ARCHITECT TECHNICAL SPECIFICATION
ANALOGUE ADDRESABLE FIRE DETECTION AND ALARM
SYSTEM
About the system:
Based on the architecture of the building, the suitable warning devices shall be installed
at appropriate location which will alert / evacuate the occupants in phased manner.
To trigger the warning devices, automatic devices like, smoke, heat, flame detectors, etc
and manual call points shall be used.
For controlling, powering these devices & for monitoring, fire alarm control panel shall
be used.
For interconnecting all these devices, 2x1.5 sq. mm copper cable with protective armored
cable / metal conduits shall be used.
To pin-point the exact location of fire, preventing / reducing false alarm, easy
maintenance with less cable & cost-effective solution is made possible by analogue
addressable fire detection and alarm system.
1.1. Scope of work:
1.1.1 The work shall consist of design, supply, installation, testing and commissioning of
Analogue addressable fire detection and alarm system requirement as shown on the
layout drawing.
1.1.2 The scope includes all necessary equipments, tools, tackles, ladders, suitable
manpower for installation, testing and commissioning.
1.1.3 The scope includes all minor civil works like opening the wall/chasing in the wall
required to be made for the installation shall be made excellently and finished in
appropriate manner.
2.1 Terminology
2.1.1 Fire Alarm Control Panel (FACP)
Analogue addressable fire alarm control panel is to connect addressable devices like
detectors, sounders, etc by using a 2 wire circuit. FACP shall be able to identify
individual detecting device, performance, status to the pin-point, location of the fire.
FACP shall trigger the designated sounder to alarm and with built-in & external control
modules shall trip AHU, access control and related devices.
2.1.2 Loop
A loop shall mean a 2-wire circuit connecting 127 addressable devices. The number of
devices in a loop mentioned is indicative only. Based on the offered FACP manufacturer
recommendation, bidder shall ensure all the addressable devices are covered. The bidder
shall not exceed 80% of the devices from the manufacturer recommendation. 20% shall
be kept spare for the addition/alteration for future use, as well as for safety.
2.1.3 Addressable devices
Addressable devices refer to all types of addressable devices, like addressable detectors,
loop sounder, control module, monitor module, fault isolator, input/output module, etc.
2.1.4 Smoke detector
In case of fire, smoke particles are released into air. Most of the cases, to detect fire,
smoke detectors are used. These detectors shall be of analogue addressable type. They
shall also have interchangeable base. Address setting by DIP switches is not acceptable.
2.1.5 Heat detector
In case of a fire, the temperature rises in the environment. For detecting this abnormal
rise in temperature, addressable heat detectors are used. These detectors shall be of
analogue addressable type. Addressable setting by DIP switches is not acceptable. This
detector shall have interchangeable base.
2.1.6 Multisensor
The detector contains both smoke and heat sensor is called multisensor. These devices are
used in order to ensure double safety. The multisensor shall be of analogue addressable
type. It shall have a provision to set only smoke / only heat / both. Address settings by
DIP switches is not acceptable. This detector shall have interchangeable base.
2.1.7 Base
All types of detectors, loop sounders, fault isolator, etc shall have a common
interchangeable base. The base shall be free from electronics. The termination shall have
provision to connect minimum 1.5 sq. mm cable.
2.1.8 Manual call point
For triggering the alarm manually, this unit is used. All indoor call-points shall be made
of ABS. This unit shall have transparent, made of polycarbonate protective flip cover.
The unit shall be re-settable without the requirement for replacing the glass. This unit
shall be of addressable type.
2.1.9 Response Indicator
All hidden area locations like above false ceiling, false floor, etc, the detectors’ indication
shall be extended using a response indicator. This unit shall be white in color, made of
ABS, Stainless Steel. The finish of the unit shall go with false ceiling.
2.2 TECHNICAL SPECIFICATION
2.2.1 The design, supply, installation, testing & maintenance of entire analogue
addressable fire detection and alarm system shall confirm to National Building Code of
India – Part 4, IS 2189, BS:5839 or NFPA 71/72 and ensure optimum efficiency of
smoke detection coverage commensurate with aesthetics and practical constraints.
2.2.2 All system components like detectors, MCP, sounders, alarm control panel shall
confirm with standards and tested & certified by any of the reputed laboratories.
2.2.3 The system shall be compatible with WiMAX / LAN network.
2.2.4 Primary power supply for the control panel shall be 230V AC, 50Hz and stand-by
power supply shall be of SMF battery.
2.2.5 Standby battery
The system shall give a minimum back-up of 48 hours in normal condition & 30 minutes
at alarm condition. Battery calculation sheet shall be provided with user manual. Suitable
standard battery calculation formula sheet shall be given with user manual for future
expansion.
Devices
2.3 Addressable Manual Call Point
2.3.1 The manual call points shall be of press glass type. The enclosure shall be made of
ABS or Polycarbonate.
2.3.2 The design shall be double action type.
2.3.3 The manual call point shall be provided with transparent protective flip cover.
Protective flip cover shall be made of strong unbreakable polycarbonate.
2.3.4 The manual call point shall have in-built LED, which shall blink whenever the unit
is under scan. It glows steady when it is actuated.
2.3.5 The manual call point shall be of aesthetically designed, suitable for flush/surface
mount. It shall be RED in color.
2.3.6 The manual call point shall be re-settable type without the requirement for replacing
the glass. Reset preferable: without using key and directly from the panel.
2.3.7 Terminal block used in manual call point shall be suitable to use 1.5 sq. mm cable.
2.3.8 The communication protocol shall be compatible with the offered panel and other
devices.
2.3.9 The manual call point nominal operating voltage shall be 17 - 24V DC.
2.3.10 The manual call point operating temperature units shall be 0 0C to 49 0C. Relative
humidity (Non-condensing): 0% to 95%
2.3.11 The manual call point shall have electronic addressing. Address setting by DIP
switches is not acceptable.
2.4 Addressable Optical Smoke Detector
2.4.1 Addressable smoke detector shall operate on light scatter principle.
2.4.2 The detector shall be analogue addressable type.
2.4.3 The detector shall have an integral microprocessor capable of making alarm
decision based on alarm level set (sensitivity).
2.4.4 The detector shall blink when the detector is addressed and glow steady on alarm.
2.4.5 The detector shall have provision to alter the sensitivity from the panel. If any other
tool / kit is required shall be supplied by the vendor, the rate shall be specified.
2.4.6 The entire components used in detector shall be protected from corrosion. All the
contact components including fasteners shall be either SS or brass.
2.4.7 The detector shall have electronic free base. The base design shall be common for
all types of detectors.
2.4.8 The detector shall have output to response indicator.
2.4.9 The detector shall have built-in functional test switch activated by external magnet.
2.4.10 The detector sensing chamber shall be easily removable for cleaning maintenance
purpose.
2.4.11 The detector and base construction shall be made of polycarbonate plastic.
2.4.12 The build-up of dirt or similar contamination on the sensing chamber shall be
continually monitored by control panel, when it exceeds predetermined level, the panel
has to indicate that the detector is in need of servicing.
2.4.13 The detector shall have electronic addressing, DIP/DIL switch address setting is
not acceptable in order to avoid unauthorized change of setting.
2.4.14 The detector shall be capable of with in the following environmental limits:
Operating temperature – 0 0C to 49 0C.
Relative humidity – 0% - 95% (non-condensing)
2.4.15 The detector operating voltage shall be 17V to 24 V DC
2.4.16 The detector shall be capable of reading from the control panel, i.e. health of the
detector, alarm level setting. Latching the detector, isolating the detector from the control
panel shall be possible.
2.4.17 The detector shall preferably have twin LED’s for 3600 viewing angle.
2.4.18 The detector base termination shall be suitable to use 1.5 sq. mm cable.
2.5 Addressable Heat Detector
2.5.1 The addressable heat detector shall provide accurate temperature measurement data
to the control panel.
2.5.2 The detector shall have highly linear thermistor circuit with the thermistor mounted
on external.
2.5.3 The fixed temperature shall be 590C .Fixed temperature shall be adjustable as per
site conditions.
2.5.4 The detector shall be analogue addressable type.
2.5.5 The detector shall have an integral microprocessor capable of making an alarm
decision based on alarm level set (sensitivity).
2.5.6 The detector shall blink when the detector is addressed and glow steady on alarm.
2.5.7 The detector shall have provision to alter the sensitivity from the panel. If any other
tool / kit is required shall be supplied by the vendor, the rate shall be specified.
2.5.8 The entire components used in detector shall be protected from corrosion. All the
contact components including fasteners shall be either SS / brass.
2.5.9 The detector shall have electronic free base. The base design shall be common for
all types of detectors. It shall be slide-easy fixing type.
2.5.10 The detector shall have output to drive response indicator.
2.5.11 The detector shall have built-in functional test switch activated by external
magnet.
2.5.12 The detector and base construction shall be made of polycarbonate plastic.
2.5.13 The detector shall have electronic addressing, DIP/DIL switch address setting is
not acceptable in order to avoid unauthorized change of setting.
2.5.14 The detector shall be capable of with in the following environmental limits:

2.5.15 The detector operating voltage shall be 17V to 24 V DC.

2.5.18 The detector shall preferably have twin LED’s for 3600 viewing angle.
2.5.19 The detector base termination shall be suitable to use 1.5 sq. mm cable.
2.6 Addressable Multisensor
2.6.1 The addressable sensor shall have integrated smoke sensing chamber and heat
sensing element.
2.6.2 Addressable smoke detector shall operate on light scatter principle.

purpose.

2.7 Addressable Loop Powered Sounder Beacon
2.7.1 The addressable loop powered Sounder Beacon shall have integral beacon within
horn using high intensity LED technology.
2.7.2 The sounder beacon shall work with loop power. No separate power supply with
cable shall be used.
2.7.3 The sounder beacon shall be addressable type. It shall have electronic addressing.
No DIP/DIL switches are permitted for address setting in order to avoid unauthorized
setting.
2.7.4 The sounder preferably shall have base.
2.7.5 The sounder termination shall be suitable to use 1.5 sq. mm cable.
2.7.6 The construction of the sounder beacon shall be made of polycarbonate plastic.
2.7.7 All metal component including fasteners shall be anti-corrosive – brass / SS.
2.7.8 The sounder beacon shall have separate tone for alert and evacuation.
2.7.9 The sounder beacon operating temperature shall be 00C to 490C.
Relative humidity:0% - 95% RH (Non-condensing)
2.7.10 The sounder beacon sound pressure level shall be 85 dB at 10ft.
2.7.11 The operating voltage range shall be 17-24 volts DC; 24 Volt DC.
2.8 Addressable Short Circuit Isolator
2.8.1 The addressable short circuit isolator shall provide short circuit protection in the
SLC loop and isolate the segment.
2.8.2 In case of class A wiring, closest isolators to the left and right of the shorted section
shall be disabled. Remaining devices shall function.
2.8.3 In case of class B wiring, all the devices beyond the shorted section shall be
disabled.
2.8.4 When short circuit fault is rectified, the isolator shall restore automatically.
2.8.5 The short circuit isolator shall have LED, it shall glow steady when actuated.
2.8.6 The short circuit isolator can be part of detector bases or built in to the detector and
shall all the featured specified here.
2.8.7 The isolator operating voltage shall be 17-24 Volt DC.
2.8.8 The isolator operating temperature range shall be 00C to 490C.
2.8.9 The isolator termination shall be suitable to use 1.5 sq. mm cable.
2.8.10 All the metal components used shall be anti-corrosive – Brass/SS.
2.9 Addressable Control Module
2.9.1 The addressable control module shall provide potential free changeover contacts for
various applications.
2.9.2 The control module shall built-in LED. The LED shall blink when it is addressed
and it shall glow steady when it is actuated.
2.9.3 The control module shall have electronic addressing.
2.9.4 The control contact rating shall be a minimum of 2 amps @ 24V DC (Resistive).
2.9.5 The control module contact termination shall be suitable for 1.5 sq. mm cable.
2.9.6 The control module shall be used to trip AHU, Access control, Smoke exhaust fan,
Fire exit lights, BMS, etc.
2.9.7 The control module can be used to drive conventional high decibel hooter, siren.
2.9.8 The control module operating temperature shall be 00C to 490C.
2.9.9 The control module operating voltage shall be 17-24 Volt DC.
2.9.10 All metal components including fasteners shall be anti-corrosive – brass/SS
2.9.11 The control module shall operate from SLC loop power. No external power/cable
shall be used.
2.10 Addressable Monitor Module
2.10.1 The addressable monitor module shall monitor free changeover contacts from
various applications.
2.10.2 The monitor module shall built-in LED. The LED shall blink when it is addressed
and it shall glow steady when it is actuated.
2.10.3 The monitor module shall have electronic addressing.
2.10.4 The monitor module contact termination shall be suitable for 1.5 sq. mm cable.
2.10.5 The monitor module operating temperature shall be 00C to 490C.
2.10.6 The monitor module operating voltage shall be 17-24 Volt DC.
2.10.7 All metal components including fasteners shall be anti-corrosive – brass/SS
2.10.8 The monitor module shall operate from SLC loop power supply. No external
power/cable shall be used.
2.11 Addressable Fire Alarm Control Panel (FACP)/Repeater Panel
2.11.1 The addressable fire alarm control panel shall be analogue addressable type. Shall
provide maximum flexibility with user friendly equipment.
2.11.2 The control panel shall operate primary supply of 230 volts AC and standby
supply
of SMF battery.
2.11.3 The control panel shall have built-in power supply, SMF battery & battery
charger.
2.11.4 The control panel enclosure made by 16 gauges CRCA sheet with powder coated.
2.11.5 Suitable control with no. of loops shall be recommended by the vendor. Since no.
of devices varies from manufacturer to manufacturer.
2.11.6 Maximum 75% of load of the devices shall be used in order for safety and future
expansion purpose.
2.11.7 The control panel shall have TFT color Graphic Display with Touch Screen
Control.
2.11.8 The Control panel shall have built feature of Mimic software.
2.11.9 The control panel shall have built-in sounder. There shall be different tone for fire
and fault indication.
2.11.10 The control panel shall be suitable to use standard wire, no shielded or twisted
pair required on SLC loop.
2.11.11 The control panel shall have minimum two level password protection.
2.11.12 The control panel shall have network capability.
2.11.13 The control panel shall have event logging facility.
2.11.14 The control panel shall be supplied with PC configuration software.
2.11.15 The control panel all termination shall be suitable to use 1.5 sq. mm cable.
2.11.16 The control panel shall have alert indication for missing device, contaminated
device.
2.11.17 The control panel shall have real-time clock (RTC) indicate time, date, month &
year.
2.12. PC Configuration Software
2.12.1. Addressable fire panel shall be supplied with PC configuration software enable
configure the system easily.
2.12.2. PC configuration software kit along with any hardware energized for PC
connectivity shall be part of fire alarm panel .
2.12.3 PC minimum hardware requirements shall be clearly specified in the offer. If the
panel has only RS232serial port is not acceptable. Either USB direct connectivity or
serial to USB converter is provided.
2.12.4. Requirements of hard disk space, ram capacity shall be clearly specified.
2.12.5 The PC configuration software shall be windows based and it shall run on latest
windows version.
2.12.6 The software shall be in CD/DVD format.
2.12.7. PC configuration software shall be provided to zone/device location text to
enter/read/edit and upload /download to control panel.
2.12.8. The PC software shall have provision to read/edit the settings of detector
sensitivity.
2.12.9 The software shall have provision to do hooter group settings.
2.12.10. The software shall have provision to download even logging history report to
read/print.
2.13. PC Graphics Software
2.13.1 The graphics software is integrated with fire alarm system to provide clear &
precise real-time information of alarm on PC work station with use of text, floor & map.
2.13.2 The graphics software makes easy for the user to locate effected area to enable
them to make efficient response to emergency.
2.13.3 The software shall constantly monitor incoming alarm/trouble data.
2.13.4 In case of alarm/trouble the particular floor plan shall pop-up automatically and
the respective triggered device shall flash with change of colour.
2.13.5 In case of alarm/trouble work station shall provide clear text message of zone no.,
device no. and description of device location with customized take-action instruction.
2.13.6 The software shall have provision to add, edit floor plan. It shall permit the user to
use floor plan/map in the format of bitmap (.bmp), JPEG, .gif
2.13.7 The software shall have password protection feature to allow only authorized
personnel to login/logout/change password.
2.13.8 The software shall have provision for floor plans can be zoomed in & out.
2.13.9 The software shall have option to print real-time events for operation.
2.13.10 The software shall record event-logs, history with time & date.
2.13.11 The software shall facilitate maintenance personnel to list & locate the detectors
requires attention for service, faulty devices.
2.13.12 The software shall have provision to send specified various e-mail id with
respective message.
2.14. Documentation:
The vendor shall submit two sets of printed user manual along with as erected drawing.
One set of soft copy in the form of CD or DVD. Separate user software CD for panel
programming shall be provided. No extra payment shall be made for documentation. If
required shall be quoted by the vendor at the time of tendering itself.
2.15. List of approved makes:
Preferred makes for the system is given below. Any deviation shall be clearly
mentioned by the tenderer with reason. Tenderer shall clearly mention the make,
model no. and deviation from specification.
