Looking, drawing & imagining [A01]

Create a colourful title page featuring : Your name / Candidate number / GCSE Art Final
Exam
Plan out a brainstorm double-pages in your book: one for each of your two favourite
questions. Write the question title in the centre, then draw / write your ideas round it.
On the next page write / print off a sub-title “Observational & Imaginative
studies”
Draw / paint your initial idea for a final design from your imagination.
Make at least THREE drawings from real life of details which you can use in
your design - Use a variety of materials like pencil, pastels, pen & ink, paint – to show the
range of your skills.

By now you should have settled on one particular question. Take some photos or digital
pictures of details for your chosen theme. – to show that you use photos as another
research tool.

Make some sketches from the photos – to show how you might adapt them for your
final piece

Collect and mount up pictures which would fit in with your theme - from the Internet,
magazines, newspapers etc. [Limit these to a double page maximum!!]
Looking at how other artists have used your theme [A02] [Max.25 marks]

Write / print off the heading: Looking at Artist’s work to help with my ideas
Then write a list of artists who have made work which fits in with your chosen theme.
Discuss this with your tutor for extra guidance.
• Create a picture gallery of these artists work over the next few pages using
photocopies, printouts and postcards.
• Make sketches of details from the works – use a variety of materials NOT
JUST PENCIL SKETCHES - try using what the artists have used!!!

Draw out plans for THREE different final ideas – label or number them – you can also
write brief notes to explain them if you need to.
Choose your final idea. Discuss this carefully with your tutor.

Collect additional information of details, backgrounds, etc. – photos, sketches, print-outs

Draw parts of your final design as a practice BUT DO NOT DO IT ALL – or your final

version will not come out as well as you will be bored with it!
Test out colours – make a note of what you use to remind you in the exam.
Try out a wide range of different materials – add notes to explain your choices.
