you’re chosen, you’ll write at least three posts during the Fall 2014 semester. The posts will be added to
our blog and may also be included in our eNewsletter and on social media. It’s a great way to get your

Registration for Fall Ends Wednesday
​Time is running out to register for Fall classes. Registration ends Wednesday,
Aug. 20.
Use the browsable class schedule to search for the classes you want to take.
The new Find Credit Classes tool on eConnect may speed up your search.
How to Register
Register online. Registration is available on eConnect from 4 a.m.-1 a.m. for
eligible students.
Register on campus. Note that dates and times for on-campus registration ends earlier in the day than online
registration. Visit your college’s website for the most current information.
Students with an eConnect login can plan their schedules on eConnect with Plan My Schedule, and all students can
browse credit classes or search for credit classes using eConnect.
Note that we also offer Flex Term classes that don’t follow the regular semester schedules.

Important Dates for the New Semester
​Make sure you’re prepared for the Fall semester: Make note of these important
dates:
August
Aug. 20: Last day to register for regular semester classes (Only Flex Term
classes can be registered for after this date.)
Aug. 21: Last day to add a class
Aug. 22: Last day to drop a class (If you were registered before Aug. 20.)
Aug. 25: Semester begins
Aug. 29: Last day to arrange for a payment plan
September
Sept. 8: Certification Date (12th Class Day) for traditional, semester-length classes (certification dates for Flex Term
classes will vary)
Sept. 9: Last day to register for classes if you want to receive financial aid for Fall 2014
November
Nov. 13: Last day to drop with a “W” for traditional, semester-length classes
December
Dec. 11: Semester ends
Other
Tuition refund dates (for traditional, semester-length classes):
· 100 percent – before Aug. 25 (prior to first class day)
· 70 percent – Aug. 25-Sept. 11 (first through 15th class days)
· 25 percent – Sept. 12-17 (16th through 20th class days)
· None – on or after Sept. 18 (on or after 21st class day)
Throughout semester: Flex Term registration. You must be registered for a Flex Term class before the class meets
for the first time.

Find Out Who From Your College Is a Muse Scholar
​Nine students have been selected as winners of one of the top DCCCD honors:
the Muse Scholars Program.
Muse Scholars are selected for their leadership potential, determination to
succeed, focus on educational goals and work ethic, along with proven
leadership skills and academic achievement. They are role models, as well.
The 2014-2015 Muse Scholars are:
· Marietou Diallo of Dallas, a computer science major at Brookhaven College
· Saliou Diallo of Dallas, a biomedical engineering major at Brookhaven College
· Vanessa Escalante of Dallas, an accounting major at El Centro College
· Diana Farran of Irving, an engineering major at North Lake College
· Jessica Gallardo of Farmers Branch, a biology major at Brookhaven College
· Lucinda Ipina of Grand Prairie, a biology major at Mountain View College
· William Kaseu of Dallas, a mathematics major at El Centro College
· Katia Marroquin of Irving, a nursing major at North Lake College
· Robert Marusak of Mansfield, a wildlife management major at Cedar Valley College
DCCCD Foundation supporters Lyn and John Muse of Dallas created the scholarship program. The scholarship fully
supports each recipient’s costs in college, including tuition, books and additional fees. Students may receive the Muse
scholarship for up to six consecutive semesters.

North Lake Students, Faculty Are Art Winners
Students and faculty won awards at the 14th annual Art Connection Members exhibition. The exhibition was
held at the Irving Arts Center. Student Louie Reynolds was recognized with an honorable mention for an oil
painting. Tommy Wright, student and ceramic lab assistant at North Lake College, won first place in the
nonprofessional category for a clay vessel. Marty Ray, art faculty, won the Best of Show Award for an incised,
colored slip-painted clay vessel titled “Urban Patchwork.”
