CPoW Speaks: We are a Bible-Based Political Party. “They that forsake the law praise the wicked: but such as keep the law contend with them.” Proverbs 28:4 By Riley J. Hood-CPoW State Chairman Many people think we are “paleo-conservative”, but what we really are is a Bible-based, political party. By Bible-based, I do not mean forcing people to join a church, much less a state church. “Bible-based” means our laws should be patterned after God's laws as found in the Bible. When I say “Bible-based,” I am referring to our CPoW Party Constitution, Article II-ByLaws-Party Constitution, Section A., “To glorify God through continued trust in Him to use this organization and it's members to restore the Biblical principles of government established by our Founding Fathers.” The Constitution Party of Wisconsin Platform Preamble declares, “The Constitution Party of Wisconsin gratefully acknowledges the blessing of the Lord God as Creator, Preserver, and Ruler of the Universe and of this Nation. It recognizes Jesus Christ as transcendent King over all nations and hereby appeals to Him for aid, comfort, guidance and the protection of His Divine Providence as we work to restore and preserve this nation as a government of the people, by the people, and for the people.” “The US Constitution established a republic under God, rather than a democracy.” “Our republic is a nation governed by a Constitution, which is rooted in Biblical law, administered by representatives who are constitutionally elected by the citizens.” “In a republic governed by Constitutional law, rooted in Biblical law, all life, liberty, and property are protected.” The recurring phrase, “rooted in Biblical law,” is what is meant by Bible-based. The term, Bible-based Political Party sounds more sensible than “rooted in Biblical law Political Party” or “Biblical principles Political Party.” CPoW means to have our civil laws passed by the Legislature, implemented by an Executive and tried by our courts; but those laws will reflect God's law. While there are many sins listed in the Bible, CPoW agrees with our nation's founders, that what the Bible punishes as crime, we ought to so punish as crime. We will recriminalize abortion, sodomite acts, public nudity, and the like. We will re-instate the death penalty. Malefactors won't be charged with violating Bible verses, they will be charged with violating a State Law. To quote Sir William Blackstone, “And consequently, as man depends absolutely upon his Maker for everything, it is necessary that he should in all points conform to his Maker's will, this is called the law of nature”. “The doctrines thus delivered we call the revealed or divine law, and they are to be found only in the Holy Scriptures..are found upon comparison to be really part of the original law of nature. Upon these two foundations, the law of nature and the law of revelation, depend all human laws; that is to say, no human laws should be suffered to contradict these.” Blackstone was the originator of the “laws of nature and nature's God,” referred to in the US Declaration. Finally, I will define “Political Party.” According to p.850 of the Wisconsin 2003-2004 BlueBook, “A political party is a private, voluntary organization of people with similar political beliefs that vies with other parties for control of government.” I would say that lines up with our CPoW view that--“CPoW is a Political Party that seeks to implement the Biblical Principles of government as expressed in the Declaration of Independence and the US Constitution.” We mean to be as Biblical as you can make a political party, but being a political party means we are not a church. We don't conduct praise and worship or have communion, etc. The Church is a God-ordained institution to glorify Jesus Christ, the Head of the Church. The State is God-ordained to punish crime. CPoW is a voluntary organization, no force involved; a Political Party: competing with other parties to implement our Platform, which is Constitutional and rooted in Biblical Law. CPoW has prayer, Bible reading, and the Pledge of Allegiance. Most CPoW members are in Church on the Lord's Day; CPoW is no substitute for Church. We will not interfere with Church discipline, and we will not use church discipline as criteria for dealing with our members in good standing. The Church has their duties, The State has their duties, and we have our duties. May we be diligent in fulfilling them.
