1. The Deuteronomistic History pervades the whole of the former prophets. State
what the theme is and then select at least two examples that illustrate the theme.
Your examples should include a brief description and citation from the books of
Joshua, Judges, 1 and 2 Samuel, or 1 and 2 Kings.
2. First state what were the three primary prophetic themes. Next find a passage in
the prophetic books that is representative for each one of these themes; type it out
and correctly cite it.
3. Describe the Syro-Ephraimite Crisis. To which time period of prophetic activity
does this belong? Which prophet is associated with this crisis? What is his
message? What were the consequences of the crisis?
