Northwest Territories PLAY: CADOMIN DEEP BASIN CUTBANK RESOURCE GAS T125 Play Description: The Cadomin Formation is continental in origin and was deposited on the uneven surface of the pre-Cretaceous unconformity as a series of coalescing alluvial fans and fluvial deposits sourced by the Laramide Orogeny to the west. Cadomin deposition was constrained by the northeast-bounding Fox Creek Escarpment. Hydrocarbons can be trapped conventionally and unconventionally in stratigraphic and structural closures, as well as unconventionally in "Deep Basin" style traps. Deep Basin targets are increasingly economic due to advancements in various drilling technologies. The geology in this play area is complex and requires detailed geological and geophysical mapping to define future prospects.
