Overview
These standards explain how to create
lockups for UTC Aerospace Systems
functions, certain approved initiatives
such as Employee Network Groups and
UTC Aerospace Systems strategic
business units (SBUs).

These lockups consist of three elements.
The UTC Aerospace Systems brand
signature, the typeset name of the function,
initiative or SBU, and a separating rule.
To further build brand recognition, it
is preferred that the UTC Aerospace
Systems company brand signature
be used exclusively without any
accompanying function logos. Reference
to the functional group, initiative or SBU
can be used elsewhere in the text/copy.
Limited Approved Uses
UTC Aerospace Systems function
logos are approved for internal use
only and their use restricted to the
following items: internal communications
within groups, plaques, newsletters,
presentations and graphics.
Restricted Uses
Do not use UTC Aerospace Systems
function logos on trade show graphics,
advertisements, stationery, brochures,
marketing materials, gratuities, web
sites, press releases, multimedia or
sponsorships. In these cases, the SBU
or group name should be used in the
copy/text areas of the material and
not in the logo area. For gratuities,
these elements should be placed in a
secondary decoration area.
All requests for UTC Aerospace Systems
function logos must be approved by
the UTC Aerospace Systems identity
council. Approval from UTC Corporate
Communications and/or UTC Aerospace
Systems’ legal department may be
necessary in certain instances. Additional
approvals may also be required by key
stakeholders such as a functional group,
employee network group or SBU. Contact
the UTC Aerospace Systems identity
council at brandidentity@utas.utc.com.

Color
The preferred color usage is UTC blue
(PMS 286) for the UTC Aerospace
Systems brand signature and Gray PMS
425 for the typeset name of the
function, initiative or SBU and the
separating rule. Alternately you may
create lockups in UTC blue and black,
all black or reversed to white.

Clear area
Use the specs at left to determine the
clear area around lockups. The clear
area is a defined space around the
Lockup where no other artwork or text
may be placed.
The clear area also defines the minimum
space allowable between the lockup
and the edge of a background; e.g., the
edge of a page or the corner of a
display wall.
The clear area is based on the “x” height
of the lower case letters in the UTC
Aerospace Systems brand signature.
Allow 2x clear area on all sides of the
Lockup.

The Lockup may be enlarged to any

Do not use the Lockup where the Gear

SBU set below it.

The “Gear” in the UTC Aerospace

A 1 point rule is set 1p6 from the
baseline of the type in the UTC
Aerospace Systems brand signature.
The rule flushes left with the “U” in UTC
and flushes right with the “s” in Systems.
The baseline of first line of text in the,
function, initiative or SBU is 1p7 from

may not exceed the width of the rule.
