What: When: Where: Candidates for school committee forum Wednesday, October 7, 2015 @ 7:00 p.m. Breed Middle School Auditorium Public education is how we fulfill our collective responsibility to give each and every child an opportunity to succeed. To fulfill this responsibility, we need a system of great neighborhood public schools, where educators have the tools and resources to meet the needs of each and every student. The school committee plays an important role in working with the superintendent, Lynn’s educators and our unions to fulfill the promise of a great public education for all of Lynn’s students. All are welcome to attend the public forum. Elect a Building Representative and School Union Committee Active and effective building representatives and school union committees organize, engage, empower, inspire and mobilize members on issues important to our schools and students. Building representatives and school union committees support and enhance our union’s work to strengthen the learning and working conditions of our students and educators. Our fight for the schools our students deserve begins at the local level—negotiating changes to the teachers’, paraprofessionals’ and therapists’ contracts with the Lynn School Committee, electing public officials that support our public schools, ensuring the fruition of the Pickering construction project, supporting the Less Testing More Learning campaign and opposing the expansion of charter schools are among the union’s campaigns this school year. I am proud to serve as the president of the Lynn Teachers Union and with engaged building representatives and school union committees we will realize the power of our collective voice.
