3rd GRADE OAA TEST
Our third-grade students will be taking the Reading Ohio Achievement
Assessment on Tuesday, October 5th. This assessment will be conducted in
the morning from 9:30 to 12:00. Please have your child get plenty of rest the
night before and have a good breakfast the day of the assessment.
5th GRADE CLASSROOM NEWSLETTER
With students switching classes and teachers having multiple students and
teaching multiple classes the 5th grade teachers have added a newsletter to
their progress Book. Parents can find this information by clicking on the
“information” tab.
BCI Student Newsletter
The following 5th grade girls began a BCI Student Newsletter: Jacqueline Bush, Hannah Shroder, Elaina Brode,
Lauren Chew, Hailey Shroder, Mckenna Kramer, and Hannah White. Each month these girls meet to discuss
upcoming events and activities and post a newsletter in each classroom. This is a very motivated group of girls
and they have put a lot of energy and effort into promoting students and staff here at BCI. See attachment!!!

STRATEGIC PLANNING COMMITTEE
This year the Strategic Planning Committee is forming three study groups: Finance, Technology, and
Curriculum/Instruction. These groups will meet four times this school year (approximately for 1 hour after
school hours). If you are interested in being a member of one of these groups, as a BCI parent, please contact
Mr. Baldridge.
3rd Grade Destination ImagiNation
A Destination ImagiNation Information Night will be held Tuesday, October 5th at 7:00
p.m. in the Bell Creek School cafeteria. 3rd grade students are welcome and encouraged to
attend this information session with a parent.
Destination ImagiNation is a project-based after-school activity like no other. Over the
course of the season, teams work to solve one of the Team Challenges and practice and
solve any number of Instant Challenges. By solving challenges, they gain experience in
creative problem solving - a powerful process based on more than 50 years of research that
can transform the way that children approach problems for the rest of their lives. They work
together in teams of 5-7 of their peers to gain experience in imaginative presentation,
cooperative teamwork and an overall sense of pride and accomplishment.
Last year a Bellbrook team competed at the regional tournament at Miami University and a
video of their challenge will be shown to provide an idea about the finished product.
A Team Manager is needed for each team and we are especially interested in meeting with
parents who may be willing to lead a team. This is necessary for the expansion of this
program. Teams will meet weekly after school. There is a small cost to participate with
this program (approximately $25). A competition in March is the culminating event which
is held at Miami University. More information will be presented at the meeting. Visit
http://www.idodi.org/ for further information about this international program and the
challenges presented this year. Contact Tessa Blachly-Flanagan at tblachly@woh.rr.com for
further information.
