ANNUAL REPORT 2014 Opening Doors to Bright Futures for Kids Since 1921 Proud past, bright future. Bryan Slaughter and Jacki Bryant “What the best and wisest parent wants for his own child, that must be what the community wants for all its children.” —John Dewey 2 The images used in this report are for illustrative purposes only With a robust 93-year history, our predecessors could never have imagined the evolution of our organization. Beginning as an orphanage in the 1920s, the organization has emerged as a multiprogram private non-profit supporting nearly 7,000 area kids, families and child care providers every year. Board of Directors Bryan Slaughter President Louise Dudley Vice President Peggy Van Yahres Treasurer Alyson O'Sullivan Secretary We are thrilled to add another milestone to our agency’s story by changing our name to ReadyKids. Our new name better reflects what we do, makes a statement about what we strive to achieve, and illustrates our intention to keep up with the changing needs of our community’s kids. Yet, our most important goal is to increase our accessibility to the kids and families we partner with every day. Beverly Adams We may have changed our name, but not our programs or unwavering focus and commitment to the well-being of kids in the Charlottesville area. It is our collective efforts that ensure all of our community’s kids are Ready to Learn, Ready for Relationships and ultimately Ready for Life. Kelley MacDougall Join us in celebrating the achievements, both past and present, of children, families and child care providers in our community. We look forward to continuing to partner with you to open doors to bright futures for kids for years to come.
