The project will be built in four separate phases and each phase will
have different traffic impacts.
Phase 2 (Fall 2012 to Spring 2013*)
Phase 1 (November 2011 to Fall 2012*)
During this phase of construction, temporary
pavement on the sides of the existing roadway will be
constructed as necessary.
Motorists will encounter daytime and nighttime lane
closures with flaggers directing traffic after 8:30 a.m.
The contractor is allowed to work seven days a week.
Phase 3 (Spring 2013 to Spring 2014*)
The existing roadway and bridges will be
reconstructed.
Traffic will be shifted onto the newly constructed
roadway and bridges completed in Phase 2.
Motorists can expect minimal daytime and
nighttime lane closures with flaggers directing
traffic after 8:30 a.m. seven days a week.
The new roadway sections and bridges parallel to the
existing roadway will be constructed.
Traffic shifts will occur on various side streets and on US
301 during this phase of work. Semi truck traffic will not
be allowed to use Otis Road for a period of time
during this phase. Motorists can expect minimal
daytime and nighttime lane closures with flaggers
directing traffic after 8:30 a.m. seven days a week.
Phase 4 (Spring 2014 to Fall 2014*)
During this phase, crews will finish median construction
including openings, remove temporary pavement and
median crossovers and place the final layer of asphalt.
Traffic will be shifted onto the newly constructed
four-laned US 301. Motorists will encounter daytime
and nighttime lane closures with flaggers directing
traffic after 8:30 a.m. seven days a week.
* The schedule may vary depending on weather and other unforeseen conditions.
