Classroom Etiquette
As a courtesy to your classmates and to me, cell phones should be kept in silent mode.
Cell phones are not to be used during class to check text messages, emails etc. If you
need to accept an urgent phone call, you may leave the classroom and return promptly
when you are finished. You may use a laptop or tablet to write lecture notes only, if so
please sit towards the back of the room and have the sound turned off.
Academic Honesty
It is sincere hoped that no student in this class does work which is not his or her own.
However, it seems prudent to clarify in advance the policy on cheating. If I determine
that any assignment was not written solely by the student whose Name appears on it,
the student will receive a zero (0) for the assignment and may receive an "F" for the
class. All exams in this course are “closed book.” Students may not use any books,
notes or other outside material during an exam. In addition, no electronic devices of
any kind (including calculators) can be used during the exam. Looking at another
student’s exam is not allowed. If these rules are violated the student will receive a
zero (0) for the exam and may receive an "F" for the class.
