Blood Culture Ordering Process for ED Provider
Purpose
The options for placing a blood culture have been clarified to two orders:
Culture Blood Periph wRflx Sens, or Culture Blood Line wRflx Sens. The
ordering process is different for each option.

When ordering Culture Blood Periph wRflx Sens quantity is
required.
Write the collection site, date / time, and collector’s initials on the
specimen bottle label.

When ordering Culture Blood LINE wRflx Sens line location is a
required selection using the drop-down menu. This will order one
set. Repeat order process if another order is necessary.
2.
Collect from a line and then write the collection site, date / time,
and collector’s initials on the specimen bottle label.
Note: Comment field is available for additional specimen description.

Select desired Order.
Select Add Favorite.
Repeat steps 1-3 to add additional Favorite Orders.
Log out of work list and log back in to view changes.
