Upon motion of Councilor Rosalinda L. Bondal, duly seconded, the following ordinance was
enacted:
ORDINANCE NO. 379

AN ORDINANCE REQUIRING MEDICAL PRACTITIONERS IN PRIVATE
MEDICAL CLINICS, HOSPITALS AND CLINICAL LABORATORIES IN
MAKATI, TO REPORT TO THE MUNICIPAL HEALTH OFFICER OF
MAKATI, ALL CASES OF COMMUNICABLE DISEASES DIAGNOSED AND
TREATED IN THEIR FACILITIES WITHIN 24 HOURS AND TO SUBMIT
MONTHLY REPORTS OF SUCH CASES.
WHEREAS, there is indeed a need to report all communicable diseases within our area of
jurisdiction for early public health intervention pursuant to Republic Act No. 3573 enacted November
1929 and Department of Health Circular 157-B, series of 1990, directing any person who has
communicable diseases to report to the nearest health authorities;
WHEREAS, public health is more of preventive medicine, thereby early reporting of cases will
enhance immediate intervention to control and prevent occurrence of cases in epidemic proportion;
WHEREAS, the need for the cooperation of both private and public institutions is imperative for
public health reasons;
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE MUNICIPAL COUNCIL OF MAKATI,
METRO MANILA, IN SESSION ASSEMBLED THAT:
SECTION 1 – All Medical Practitioners in private medical clinics, hospitals and clinical laboratories
in Makati are required to report to the Municipal Health Officer of Makati, all cases of communicable
diseases diagnosed and treated in their facilities within 24 hours and to submit monthly reports of
such cases.
SECTION 2 – Any Medical Practitioners in private medical clinics, hospitals and clinical
laboratories in Makati, violating this ordinance shall suffer the following penalties:
1. P1,000.00 – for 1st offense
2. Cancellation of business permit for the succeeding offenses.
SECTION 3 – This Ordinance shall take effect upon its approval.
