Further investigation has revealed that the damage is much more extensive and the cost will be considerably higher c£5,000 iro £120,000 See report by Architectural Heritage Fund
There has been no evidence from local funeral directors that they would like to use the building regularly - we have had one 2 hour booking in the last year that it's been back in
Town Council stewardship.
We have previously held discussions with SHDC Planning and Conservation Officers about the possibility of change of use to residential or employment. There were mixed feelings about this: residential is likely to be a sensitive issue and there are no guarantees that approval woudl be granted. Employment would require complex alterations to the fabric of the building.
