You have been working as an administrative officer at Carswell and Sons. On Tuesday at
10 am this week you were working in the store room with a colleague (Jane Preston) and
climbed onto a wobbly stool to reach some folders on the top shelf.

You fell to the floor, twisting your ankle and also hurting your back.

The first aid officer (Mr McGoo) immediately applied ice and put your ankle up. A short time
later the ambulance was called because your foot started to swell up. The ambulance officer

Working in groups, conduct a hazard audit of the school. Use a table format with the
following headings: HAZARD
ASSOCIATED RISKS
RISK CONTROL.
Hazards can be classified as Physical, Chemical and Behavioural. Classify the hazards that
you found under these headings.
Using your audit results, identify the top four hazards in the classroom and/or playground.
In a memo to the school’s workplace, health and safety committee you must do the
following:

Part B:
You are to attend at least one OHS meeting during the year. You must arrange a suitable
time to participate with the convenor of the committee. You will be issued with a Certificate
of Attendance which you must present to your supervisor.

information on OHS issues to new students to the school.
The first leaflet is to contain brief but informative information on the following
