EMC Corporation Global Environment, Health & Safety Policy
Global Environment, Health & Safety
August 2015
EHS-100
1.0 Purpose
This Policy sets forth EMC Corporation’s (“EMC”) commitment to protecting the environment,
health, and safety (“EHS”) of its employees, customers, partners, and the communities where
EMC operates on a global basis.
2.0 Scope
This Policy applies to EMC’s global operations and impacts EMC’s employees, customers, global
partners, and global communities in which EMC does business.
3.0 Policy
EMC’s EHS management program objectives are to (i) provide products and services that are
safe and environmentally sound throughout their lifecycles, (ii) conduct business in an
environmentally responsible manner, and (iii) provide safe and healthy work environments at
EMC facilities.
EMC demonstrates its commitment to the global EHS principles in several ways, including
through its Business Conduct Guidelines, Human Rights and Global Labor Principles, corporate
sustainability principles, which are set forth in EMC’s 2014 Sustainability Report, and its
membership in the Electronic Industry Citizenship Coalition (the “EICC”). EMC has adopted the
EICC Code of Conduct for itself and requires all EMC suppliers to follow it, or a substantially
similar code of conduct.
In recognition of EMC’s EHS principles and objectives, EMC has adopted the following EHS
Policy on a worldwide basis:
 Comply with all applicable EHS laws in all countries in which EMC operates.
 Where laws and regulations do not provide adequate controls, adopt and implement
standards to protect human health and the environment.
 Manage EHS risk effectively by actively seeing and acting upon meaningful opportunities
to reduce risk and improve EHS performance.
 Design, manage and operate EMC facilities to maximize safety, promote energy
efficiency, conserve natural resources, and be protective of the environment.
 Produce products that are safe in their intended use, conserve energy and materials,
and prevent pollution throughout the product design, manufacture, use, and end-of-life
management.
