ROLE STATEMENT POSITION TITLE: MILCast – Production Officer REPORTS TO: MILCast Production Supervisor DATE: June 2012 ROLES REPORTING TO THIS ONE: Nil PRIMARY OBJECTIVES Perform all precast concrete product manufacturing and yard duties as directed by the MILcast Production Supervisor including but not limited to preparation and cleaning of molds, manufacture of reinforcement, pouring and stripping concrete products, operation of yard plant and equipment, assisting with loading of customer trucks or trailers with concrete product, yard cleaning and minor maintenance of equipment. KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES KEY RESULT AREA MAJOR ACTIVITIES PERFORMANCE MEASURES 1. Preparation and stripping of – agricultural and commercial concrete product molds. • Prepare and strip concrete product molds used in production of precast agricultural and commercial concrete products; in accordance with production guidelines and MILCast Safe Work Method Statements (SWMS). • Molds are stripped, cleaned and oiled in accordance with MILCast procedures. • Work area cleaned in preparation for re assembling of mold and pouring of new product. • Mold re assembled with bungs, block outs and reinforcement in preparation for re pouring. • Molds not required for immediate re use are removed from the production floor to the storage area. 2. Manufacture and installation of reinforcement • Check product drawing for reinforcement specification, select material (bar, mesh or fiber). If the drawing specifies bar reinforcement, the cogged bars are to be pre ordered and delivered as per specification. Cogged and plain bars are to be assembled into the reinforcement cage as per specification and either welded or wired in to position as per specification. Manufacture of mesh reinforcement is manufactured on site from commercial sheet mesh. The mesh is cut, folded and assembled in to the reinforcement cage in accordance with the design specification. If fiber specified, ensure the correct quantity is added to the mix and blended before the pour. • Reinforcement material ordered in accordance with the product design specification. • Reinforcement cages are manufactured in accordance with the product specification. • • • 3. Other duties as required • • When concrete arrives on site review documentation to ensure concrete strength and volume are as per order. Ensure concrete sample taken for slump and strength testing. Concrete to be vibrated to remove air voids during the pour in accordance with the product specification. All exposed concrete surfaces are to be troweled to a good finish and a MILCast product stock code and pour date are inscribed in the wet concrete. The exposed concrete surfaces are covered with wet hessian during the curing period. When concrete product is stripped from the mold, the product is quality inspected for cracks, voids and porosity. Operate MILCast plant and equipment in accordance with MILCast Guidelines and SWMS. Maintain vigilance at all times when operating plant items in order to ensure the safety of self and others within the work area. Conduct the daily pre operation checks of plant and record the checks and record in the plant log book. Report any plant faults to the Production Supervisor who will report the fault to the Fleet Maintenance Officer and if required; tag out the plant item for a serious fault. Undertake minor servicing and clean plant and equipment according to Murray Irrigation standards and procedures to ensure that the plant item is maintained in a good serviceable condition. Manufacturer of rubber flap regulator control of agriculture precast products in accordance with product specification. Installation of contractor manufactured aluminum sliding door controls and rubber flap regulator controls into precast products in accordance with the product design specification. Includes but not limited to assisting other areas of MILCast and yard cleaning as required • Concrete verified quantity and strength prior to pouring. • Concrete to be poured, vibrated and finished in accordance with specification. • Concrete to be cured in accordance with specification. • New products are inspected and classified in accordance with MILCast quality standards. • Plant pre operation checks are completed and recorded in accordance with procedures. • Plant faults are reported to the MILCast Production Supervisor for rectification. • Plant is operated in a safe manner at all times by qualified plant operators or under the instruction of a qualified plant operator. • Regularly complete minor servicing and cleaning of plant items. • Ancillary items for precast products are manufactured and installed in accordance with product specifications. • Willingness to assist others FREEDOM TO ACT The Production Officer has the freedom to act, within guidelines set by the MILCast Production Supervisor, to perform all production services as directed by the MILCast Production Supervisor including but not limited to perform all precast concrete product manufacturing and yard duties as directed. KEY RELATIONSHIPS/INTERACTIONS Internal • MILCast Operation Supervisor – to seek guidance and direction in daily activities, seek advice on production of precast products and maintenance of plant and equipment. Other related matters associated with the operation of the MILCast production site. • MILCast Commercial Solutions Supervisor – same as MILCast Production Supervisor External • Customers – limited contact to identify customer needs, to re direct customer enquiries or to offer assistance on minor issues.
