Tracer Applications
Fugro EMU’s tracers have been designed and used for a
wide range of projects including dredging, coastal, civil and
environmental engineering, ports and harbours, wastewater
treatment, trade effluent, government regulation and by
other environmental consultancies.

Environmental Tracers
Fugro EMU has developed many tracers and tracing
techniques in-house through years of experience and trade /
industry awards to develop real time monitoring techniques.
We can supply a range of tracer types to the necessary quality
and concentration / titre in short timeframes to meet typical survey
requirements, specialising in the use and supply of the following
tracers.
• Microbiological tracers – including a suite of bacteriophages
and Bacillus atrophaeus subsp. globigii
• Dye tracers – including fluorescein, rhodamine WT and B
• Fluorescent microspheres
• SeditraceTM (fluorescent silt tracers)
• Magnetic techniques
This suite of tracers can mimic the following mediums.
• Microbiological – bacteria and viruses
• Water / effluents
• Sediments – silt, fine grained organic material, sand and
shingle
Field Survey Services
Fugro EMU provides professional environmental tracing
surveys and data acquisition.
Our specialist tracing groups undertake all stages of tracer field
work including dosing, sampling / monitoring and sample handling /
delivery to our specialist laboratories for analysis and quantification.
Laboratory Services
Fugro EMU’s UKAS1 accredited laboratories provide professional
high quality analysis and quantification of chemical and
microbiological tracer and are uniquely UKAS1 accredited for
sampling and analysis using Bacillus atrophaeus subsp. globigii.
