Electronic document management system value realisation strategy – large UK based independent oil and gas producer Electronic documents and records management requirements assessment – methanol production company Following upgrade of financial and enterprise management systems the company recognised it was over-reliant on hardcopy and shared drives for documents. The company asked Venture to assess its requirements for electronic document and records management and to define a specification for a new system. Electronic documents and records management system selection process – methanol production company Venture consulting analysed the way the company’s EDRM system was being used in the context of the company’s business processes and vision for a collaborative and information sharing environment. We produced a roadmap of prioritised actions to embed usage of the system in key information flows and to ensure realisation of the company’s investment in the technology over its lifetime. IM strategy and business alignment – subsurface modelling company Our client recognised that it had outgrown its original ad-hoc information systems, and in order to support continued growth it had to re-engineer the way information was managed and processed in-house, and how its products were delivered to its clients. Venture worked with the CTO and chief data- and GIS- managers to understand business processes and workflows, and the way information was analysed within the framework of the business strategy and technology vision. We delivered a new architecture for internal systems, which the company has adopted, and are assisting the company to develop a core data model design. Following the success of the requirements definition and systems specification, our client asked us to create a set of weighted assessment criteria for a system, and then to draft a request for proposal document. Based on this, we were then asked to handle the system selection process for the company, including identifying possible vendors, holding demonstrations and conducting communications. We also gave commercial and technical advice during the assessment process. The unit conducts projects across the region, often relying on past information. The unit recognised that a lack of access to trusted previous information, and lack on confidence that all available information was being used, was hampering operational effectiveness. Venture were asked to assess the current state of data and information management for the unit, and to recommend how to increase the availability and accessibility of the legacy information, and to defined systems for managing information in future to ensure the accessibility and long-term value of its information is maintained.
