Humidity System #M6004 MIST #M6064 #M6045 #W6044 COMPONENTS: ▪ Short-Cycle Misting Timer (#E3340) ▪ Control Assembly (#W6044) with: Shut-Off Valve; Brass Solenoid Valve (prewired, 24 volts), Pressure Gauge, Fine Mesh Water Filter, preassembled with brass fittings and ½" PVC pipe* adapters ▪ Brass Garden Hose Adapter ▪ Anti-Drip Valve (#M6064) ▪ 10 PVC Misting Tees (#M6045) ▪ 10 Mist Nozzles, 1.0 gph (#M6032-1) #M6032-1 #E3340 #K8061 ▪ 20 Clic PVC Pipe Hangers* (#K8061) Congratulations on purchasing a misting system for your plants! They will show their appreciation! Your misting system will also help cool your greenhouse during hot weather. Heat is absorbed in the process of evaporation of the mist. However, shading from excessive sun, and adequate ventilation are also necessary. Provide 24-hour air circulation to minimize plant disease, and during colder months, maintain lower humidity. INSTALLATION: Install the Control Assembly where the Filter is accessible for cleaning, and where the Pressure Gauge is visible. The Control Assembly comes ready to connect to ½" I.D. PVC pipe.* To connect to a garden hose, remove the 1/2" PVC inlet adapter and replace with brass garden hose adapter, included. To connect to ½" metal pipe, remove the ½" PVC adapter. Complete the pipe system for the mist nozzles using ½" I.D. PVC pipe and pipe cement* (not included) and PVC Tees. Install the nozzles approximately 30 inches apart. When installing PVC pipe in the Clic Pipe Hangers, press very firmly to snap the pipe into the hanger. Be sure to flush the water lines before installing the nozzles. *PLEASE NOTE: Clic PVC Pipe Hangers fit rigid Schedule 40 PVC pipe with 1/2" ID (inside diameter) and 3/4" OD (outside diameter). Clic Hangers do not fit Schedule 80 PVC pipe. (continued on next page) Install below benches for humidity control. Charley’s GREENHOUSE & GARDEN 17979 State Route 536 • Mt. Tips on Pipe & Nozzle Location: Install the PVC pipe under the benches along the aisle, and mount the nozzles to direct the mist under the bench and away from the aisle. Nozzles may be installed overhead for propagation areas, or where there is no danger of water damage to flower blooms or sensitive foliage, as well as equipment. Space overhead nozzles 36" to 48" apart. MIST TIMER: When installing the Short-Cycle Misting Timer be careful to protect the Timer from any direct water, mist or spray. To operate, plug the Solenoid (water valve) extension cord into the plug on the Timer. Next, plug the Timer into a standard 110-120 volt outlet. The Timer will now control the system automatically to maintain the misting level you select. SYSTEM OPERATION: Use a humidity meter to check the humidity level in various parts of the greenhouse. If you have an exhaust fan, you will probably find a higher level of humidity near the fan when it is on, and a lower level near the intake vents. Keep this difference in mind when selecting a location for your particular plants. You will notice a significant rise in relative humidity when the sun goes down and the greenhouse temperature drops. If this presents a problem for your plants, install a 24-hour timer to turn the misting system off well in advance of sundown. This will allow the greenhouse to dry somewhat and will avoid excessive condensation. IMPORTANT: Drain system to prevent damage if the system will be exposed to freezing temperatures. SYSTEM MAINTENANCE: Periodically clean the main filter: turn off the water, remove bottom cap, and flush the filter screen. Also clean the mist nozzle filters. For cooling, watering and humidity control, order the 2.7 gph nozzles #M6032-2. (revised April 2012) page 2 ... 4-12 Charley’s Greenhouse Home Page
