MESSAGE FROM CCC PRESIDENT ENGINEERING AND CONSTRUCTION SAMER KHOURY Clockwise from top: The QCLNG Export Pipeline – Narrows Crossing. This is Australia’s largest large-diameter underwater pipe pull; the Pearl Project, the world’s largest GTL project; Ras Gas Trains 6 and 7. CCC MUST CONTINUE its drive into more resilient and sustainable growth. This can be achieved by targeting technically challenging niches like underwater engineering work, metro projects and further geographical expansion in the Oceania region, coupled with our continuous drive into cost optimisation and sustainability throughout our entire operations. We believe that there are many future opportunities in the Oceania region, and through our partnerships and our commitment to excellence, we are confident that we can make a difference. CCC believes that a responsible approach towards all its operations, employees, clients, suppliers and local communities, the environment, and society as a whole is an essential part of its success. AUSTRALIA’S GAS LEADERS CCC’S NOTABLE GAS PROJECTS Construction of LNG plants is one of CCC’s key strengths. To date, CCC has constructed 17 LNG trains. The RasGas Onshore/Onplot Expansion project is located in Ras Laffan, Qatar and spans over 4 km or 100 football fields. CCC completed the construction of the new generation of LNG mega-trains operated by RasGas, with trains 6 and 7 each having a production capacity of 7.8 Mt/a. The two mega size trains were completed within 48 months by a multinational workforce of over 18,000 people from over 33 countries. The Pearl Gas to Liquid (GTL) Project is also based in Ras Laffan, Qatar, and is the world’s largest GTL project covering an area of around 500 football fields. Under the management of JGC Middle East and Kellogg Brown & Root joint venture, CCC was the sole contractor responsible for all of the civil, mechanical and electrical/instrumentation works in the GTL plant, as well as the EPC of 21 buildings in the utilities areas. At full capacity, the plant will produce 1.6 Bcf/d of gas, and convert it into 140,000 bbl/d of GTL products, and 120,000 bbl/d of natural gas liquids and ethane. The project has set many world records. The Pearl GTL project reached 77 million man-hours without an injury leading to time off work in 2010 – a record for Qatar. “These gas projects are distinguished by their size, but even more importantly, they signify that the successful collaboration between owners, EP contractors and CCC facilitated the execution of these mega-size projects,” explains CCC President of Engineering and Construction Samer Khoury. AUSTRALIA’S GAS LEADERS “At CCC, we believe that every project – whatever the size – deserves our full attention and commitment. Our success over the 60 years stems from understanding this, and creating a family company which fosters all of our relationships with our stakeholders, employees, partners, clients, the environment, and the communities where we operate, and emphasises our commitment.” In line with its strategy for geographical diversification, CCC established its Australian base in 2010, and worked on a number of high-profile projects in the Australian LNG markets worth over $2 billion with local established partner McConnell Dowell. “The Oceania region is no different than our other areas,” says CCC Regional Managing Director – Africa, Caribbean and the Pacific Moujally Jabara. CCC has entered this dynamic region with partnerships, and is carrying out complex and innovative projects in the growing LNG markets of Australia and Papua New Guinea such as: • APLNG Main Pipeline Project, Australia; • QCLNG Export Pipeline and Gas Collection Header, Australia; • QCLNG Export Pipeline – Narrows Crossing, Australia; • PNG LNG Project, EPC5B Komo Airport and Infrastructure, Papua New Guinea; and, • PNG LNG EPC Buildings and Utilities and Off-sites, Papua New Guinea. “These projects were the combined effort of four years of challenging and dedicated work and their successful completion will mark not just a significant milestone for APLNG, QCLNG and PNG LNG projects, but a triumph for those whose hard work and commitment made it possible,” says Mr Jabara.
