It will provide participants with the opportunity to develop their practical knowledge and skills in budgeting, workforce planning, marketing, customer service, project management and risk management. This qualification reflects the role of individuals with substantial experience in a range of settings who are seeking to further develop their skills across a wide range of business functions. This qualification is also suited to the needs of individuals with little or no vocational experience, but who possess sound theoretical business skills and knowledge that they would like to develop in order to create further educational and employment opportunities. Preferred pathways into this qualification Candidates considering this qualification should meet one of the following requirements: • BSB40207 Certificate IV in Business or other relevant qualifications, OR • Vocational experience in a range of work environments in senior support roles but without a qualification 2 Diploma of Business units of competency Review the unit information below to see which units are covered in this course. Packaging rules Total number of units = 8 elective units. • 6 elective units must be selected from the elective units listed in the packing rules • The remaining 2 elective units may be selected from any currently endorsed Training Package or accredited course at the same qualification level. If not listed below, 1 unit may be selected from either a Certificate IV or Advanced Diploma qualification Elective units must be relevant to the work outcome, local industry requirements and the qualification level. This includes students seeking credit transfer for elective units that meet the packaging rules for this qualification and students seeking to undertake alternative units of competency via distance or RPL. BSB50207 8 elective Elective It includes assessing factors that may affect the supply of workers, aligning workforce objectives with business plans, and designing strategies and succession plans to ensure a competent and appropriately diverse workforce is available to meet anticipated changes. The unit covers the research associated with labour markets and the requirement to match organisational needs with employee skills and commitment. 4 BSBRSK501B Manage risk This unit describes the performance outcomes, skills and knowledge required to manage risks in a range of contexts across the organisation or for a specific business unit or area. Elective BSBFIM501A Manage budgets and financial plans This unit describes the performance outcomes, skills and knowledge required to undertake financial management within a work team in an organisation. This includes planning and implementing financial management approaches, supporting team members whose role involves aspects of financial operations, monitoring and controlling finances, and reviewing and evaluating effectiveness of financial management processes in line with the financial objectives of the work team and the organisation. Elective BSBINN501A Establish systems that support innovation This unit describes the performance outcomes, skills and knowledge required to conceptualise and establish new systems that support and encourage innovation in the workplace. Elective BSBMKG501B Identify and evaluate marketing opportunities This unit describes the performance outcomes, skills and knowledge required to identify, evaluate and take advantage of marketing opportunities by analysing market data, distinguishing the characteristics of possible markets and assessing the viability of changes to operations. Elective Course duration Participants have twelve (12) months to complete the training and assessment requirements of the qualification. This course is delivered using a blended approach of learning. Learners will attend some classroom training, as well as self-paced and assisted distance study. You will have a dedicated “study buddy” assisting you and encouraging you throughout your learning journey. You will also have fully qualified trainer support available during the day via phone, email and Skype.
