Course information
Overview
This course has been specifically designed to develop the knowledge and skills of people who oversee and
perform administrative functions in an organisational setting. It has a strong emphasis on setting up and
monitoring administrative systems, procedures and documentation to ensure that the business runs
effectively.

Upon successful completion of the course requirements, participants will be awarded:
• BSB50407 Diploma of Business Administration
Who should attend?
This course is suitable for those currently employed or seeking employment as an Administration Manager
or Office Manager.
Preferred pathways into this qualification
Candidates considering this qualification should meet one of the following requirements:
• BSB40507 Certificate IV in Business Administration or other relevant qualifications, OR
• Vocational experience in a range of work environments in senior support roles

This qualification contains 8 elective units of competency. Please review the unit information provided in the
table below.
Packaging rules
Total number of units = 8 elective units.
• 5 elective units must be selected from the elective units listed in the packing rules
• The remaining 3 elective units may be selected from any currently endorsed Training Package or
accredited course at the same qualification level. If not listed below, 1 unit may be selected from either a
Certificate IV or Advanced Diploma qualification
Elective units must be relevant to the work outcome, local industry requirements and the qualification level.
Selecting elective units
Students may enquire about alternative electives not listed below. This includes students seeking credit
transfer for elective units that meet the packaging rules for this qualification and students seeking to
undertake alternative units of competency via distance or RPL. ISI will only provide alternative elective units
if we have the training and assessment materials to cover the elective and a trainer/assessor with the
relevant vocational competency.

This unit describes the performance outcomes, skills and knowledge required to
manage own performance and professional development. Particular emphasis is
on setting and meeting priorities, analysing information and using a range of
strategies to develop further competence.

This unit describes the performance outcomes, skills and knowledge required to
encourage and support the development of a learning environment in which work and
learning come together. Particular emphasis is on the development of strategies to
facilitate and promote learning, and to monitor and improve learning performance.

This unit describes the performance outcomes, skills and knowledge required to manage
a range of meetings including overseeing the meeting preparation processes, chairing
meetings, organising the minutes and reporting meeting outcomes.

This unit describes the performance outcomes, skills and knowledge required to plan,
promote and coordinate conferences, ensuring follow up procedures are incorporated.

This unit describes the performance outcomes, skills and knowledge required to plan or
review the requirements of effective administration systems and procedures for
implementing, monitoring and reviewing the system.

This unit describes the performance outcomes, skills and knowledge required to
establish standards for the design and production of organisational documents and to
manage document design and production processes to ensure agreed standards are
met.

This unit describes the performance outcomes, skills and knowledge required to undertake
a straightforward project or a section of a larger project. This unit addresses the
management of projects, including developing a project plan, administering and monitoring
the project, finalising the project, and reviewing the project to identify lessons learned for
application to future projects.

This unit describes the performance outcomes, skills and knowledge required to set the
operational frameworks for the creation, capture and use of records and to monitor and
review these frameworks and activities within a business or records system of a specific
business domain.

Course duration
Participants have twelve (12) months to complete the training and assessment
requirements of the qualification.
This course is delivered using a blended approach of learning. Learners will attend some classroom training,
as well as self-paced and assisted distance study. You will have a dedicated “study buddy” assisting you
and encouraging you throughout your learning journey. You will also have fully qualified trainer support
available during the day via phone, email and Skype.

VET FEE-HELP
VET FEE-HELP is a loan scheme available to eligible students undertaking Diploma, Advanced Diploma,
Graduate Certificate and Graduate Diploma qualifications. VET FEE-HELP allows students to defer the
payment of a course until their annual income exceeds the minimum threshold.
