PRECAUTIONS FOR HANDLING 4.1 Unlocking the Motor When the motor is locked due to trouble such as paper jamming, unlock it in the following procedure. 1) Turn off the motor. 2) Reverse the motor in order to return a cutter blade. 3) After the cutter blade has returned to its home position, turn off the motor and eliminate an external factor. 4) If it does not return to its home position, turn off the motor immediately, turn the emergency knob shown in the figure below in the arrow-indicated direction to return the blade, and eliminate the external factor. In order to prevent danger, use a pair of tweezers, screwdriver, ball-point pencil, or other instrument to turn the emergency knob. Fig. 4-1 Emergency Knob 4.2 Precautions for Safety 1) Never touch the blade with your hand. 2) Do not disassemble the cutter unless necessary. 3) When handling the auto cutter unit, turn off the power. 4) When connecting the auto cutter unit, make sure that the polarity is correct. 12 CITIZEN ACS-230/220/240 Specifications 5. PRECAUTIONS FOR INSTALLING THE AUTO CUTTER UNIT 5.1 Installation 1) There are mounting holes on both sides of the auto cutter unit. (4 on each side) Hole diameter is 2.3. Install the unit, using them as premachined holes for screws M2.6 or for positioning. (See APPEARANCE DRAWING for the positional dimensions) 2) A paper inserting angle should be within the range shown in Fig. 5-1. 3) The paper should be curled in the direction shown in Fig. 5-1. Fig. 5-1 ø 2.3 Mounting Hole (8 Places) Paper Curling Direction Paper Inserting Angle 13 CITIZEN ACS-230/220/240 Specifications 5.2 Precautions for Designing the Paper Guide 1) In order to prevent paper jamming, provide a level difference (0.3) shown in Fig. 5-2. 2) In order to prevent trouble due to paper curling, provide a straight (S) section of 1 to 1.5 mm width. (Fig. 5-2) 3) Design a shape of the paper guide so that the paper will not be sagged between the cutter and the printer. 4) A mounting section should avoid a narrowed part as shown in Fig. 3 and be fixed with tapping screws M2x3 (4 places). (See APPEARANCE DRAWING for the positional dimensions) 5) The following shows an example where the paper guides A and B are identical parts. Select an optimum shape and material, depending on the printer and where you install the auto cutter unit. (Minimize dimension A) 2) Do not design a shape of the outer case that may block the paper discharged from the auto cutter unit. 3) The distance B from the paper outlet of the auto cutter unit to that of the case should be 20 mm or more. The paper outlet of the case (dimension C) should not be wide enough to allow a finger to enter inside. 4) Design the periphery of the paper outlet of the case in a manner to prevent foreign substances from falling.
