Your statement should be no more than 2 typed, single sided pages using 1 inch margins, 12 pt. font and double spacing. Be sure to include your name, the name of this scholarship and the year on your statement. 1) What study abroad, research or internships program will you participate in? Social Work Student Study Abroad Scholarship Information The College of Social Work has established a fund to provide Social Work Undergraduate, MSW, and PhD students with partial support for participating in an international program. The program can be a College of Social Work or other OSU study abroad program or approved international research or internship program. To be considered for this award, students must apply for funding using this application. Decisions for awards will be made during spring semester by the International Programs Committee. The intent of the award is to assist Social Work students with the financial burden of participating in a study abroad program or approved international research or internship program. Scholarship Eligibility To be eligible to receive this scholarship, you must: 1) be enrolled in the College of Social Work/seeking a degree from the College of Social Work 2) have already been accepted to a study abroad or other approved international program 3) have a strong academic record. GPA will be considered in the award decisions. 4) have an academic or professional purpose for participating in the program 5) have financial need. Financial need can be established either by providing data from your FAFSA statement or describing your financial need in the application statement Information from the Office of International Affairs Travel Warning Policy In countries under a current Department of State Travel Warning or other locations designated high risk, undergraduate students cannot use scholarship awards for study abroad programs and/or individual international projects outside of venues approved by Ohio State. Approved programs are communicated on the OIA website via the study abroad search engine: http://oia.osu.edu/gettingstarted/search-programs.html Graduate and professional students may petition the International Travel Policy Committee for approval a minimum of three months prior to proposed travel. Supplemental International Insurance Ohio State students traveling to international locations for the purpose of study abroad, undergraduate or graduate/dissertation research, internships or independent study are required to enroll in the university's supplemental international insurance which is provided through HTH Worldwide. The insurance includes coverage for medical, evacuation, repatriation, emergency assistance, and political security and natural disaster. Students participating in study abroad programming coordinated through the Office of International Affairs are automatically enrolled in the supplemental international insurance.
