YALE CEO, MICHAEL BROGAN AT MAINI
15th Jan ’11. Chief among the Group’s visitors
this year was Michael Brogan, CEO, NMHG;
his visit was so significant because of the
potential global scale and long-term growth of
the Yale Maini association. Mr. Brogan and
his team came to MMM to explore India’s
market for Yale forklift trucks.
from the EDITOR’s
chairman note
T
H
he year started well for all Group
companies: initiatives begun a year
ago have shown positive results and
will continue to do
so. New relationships
forged last year by
MMM and MPP have
similarly flourished
and should add to the
year’s overall growth.
This year’s efforts are
focused primarily on
a unified brand strategy for Maini. A strong
cross-functional team has been formed to
take this crucial initiative forward. In the
next few months, it will gain momentum
across all companies at all levels. We plan
to synergise all our companies’ strengths
toward presenting a concerted and cohesive
brand to all stakeholders.
By year-end, our CSR initiative should
showcase a strong sustainable model for
development of villages in backward areas,
with a.tightly-knit, deeply committed team
to implement it.
However, the pace varies from company
to company, equally busy though they all
are. What we do is to focus on them in
turn, in pace with what they’re doing. This
means timely exposure for each member in
the Group. Now, it’s MMM’s turn to be in
the spotlight, just as the others have been
before.
This works especially in a bi-annual
newsletter, we think – and as always, we
want to hear what you think, too, on this
and all matters Maini. Here we are at Issue
8 almost before we know it. For us on the
Editorial team, the process gets smoother
by the issue. For this we have to thank all
the company heads and Shubha at Maini
Sadan from whom all inputs flow, as well
as all of you, always, our readers.
My sincere gratitude and appreciation to
everyone at Maini for supporting all these
initiatives.
– Sandeep Kumar Maini
As well as expressing his admiration for
our domain manufacturing strengths and
technical capabilities, Mr. Brogan emphasized
the longevity of the relationship NHMG seeks
with the Group. He affirmed these points
when he made brief visits to Mahindra Reva,
MPP and MGA.
At the
Chairman’s
home on the 18th
evening, Mr.
Brogan relaxed
over dinner
with friends and
associates of the
Group.

CeMAT 2010: a great
success for great
reasons
Dec ’11 Mumbai. CeMAT 2010 was the launch
pad for the Yale-Maini relationship, our launch
theme being Global Brands. Perfect Solutions.
CeMAT also saw the official unveiling of Yale
forklift trucks in India including the YaleMaini co-branded RCF (see item overleaf).
The buzz had it that we were CeMAT’s best
pavilion. Over 500 key visitors – customers
and prospects – took close looks at our
newest products: forklifts, the reach truck,
8T tow tractor, AC stacker and Armes Maini
multi-purpose shelving. The hit features were
the Virtual Reality Zone and the Warehouse
Simulation Tool. The former uses computerbased tools to create a virtual experience
of driving a forklift truck. Our End-to-End
warehousing and logistics solutions were also
showcased on similar technology-enabled
interactive media.
Ce-BRAND
We scored high too on visibility. Eye-catching
posters, standees, pole buntings at strategic
locations and the branding on our pavilion
celebrated the Yale-Maini alliance. CeMAT
Preview, the show newsletter, documented
all the buzz and the highlights of the pavilion
itself. So did the leading mainstream
newspapers and magazines.

System
Changer
OUR UNIQUE MPS
2010-’11. It’s been a good year, one in which
our Multipurpose Storage System (MPS) must
be singled out for particular mention.
DESIGN EFFICIENCY
This boltless system is uniquely applicable
for storage requirements in sectors ranging
from large industrial to retail. To name a few,
Bata India, Alok Industries, NYK Logistics
and Volkswagen India deploy the Armes
Maini MPS in several of their major projects.
MPS replaces conventional slotted angle
shelving without compromising any technical
parameters. Easy-to-commission, it reduces
a project’s turnaround time irrespective of
system size and also enables faster shelf height
customization.
Its design innovations include the patented
Z-shaped folds in the shelving which
maximize load-carrying capability. As
application demands, additional loads can be
configured with add-on stiffeners.
Jun ’11. Being recommended for the Integrated
Management System (IMS) ISO 9001:2008, 14001:2004
and OHSAS 18001: 2007 simultaneously by TUV India is
a significant milestone: an incentive to look toward newer
and ever more challenging destinations.
June 9, 2011
This is in reference to the ISO 9001: 2008, ISO 14001: 2004 and
OHSAS 18001: 2007 certification assessments conducted at your
works on 17-18.05.2011 and 07-08.06.2011.
The audit has been successful and the company is recommended

Feb 9th- 13th Bangalore. Aero India is now
considered Asia’s premier air show. This year,
over 600 domestic and international aerospace
and defence companies took part, testifying to its
eminence in the global aviation community. What
added to this year’s show’s scale and profile was all
the major OEM’s exhibiting their products.
The Maini Group’s having successfully grown into
a major aerospace and defence player since our
first showing at Aero India 2009 is something
we’re proud of. Our members’ individual strengths

The response from current and potential customers,

BHAJAN MANDALIS
MERIT
Meaningfully improving rural quality of
life has to substantially engage the villagers
themselves on organizational, as well as
spiritual levels.
Recent Maini Merit-Cum-Means Scholarship
recipients included ten students from the
villages and hadis of Machur Sub-Cluster,
D. B. Kuppe Grama Panchayat. All of them
are studying at Government PU College,
H. D. Kote, except for Vishwanatha, son of
Mani of Machur-II, who’s doing his BBM at
Maharaja’s College, Mysore.
To strengthen team spirit, ten Bhajan
Mandalis, each comprising about 15 people
from each village, have been constituted in
Bogapura, Hullumutlu, Machur I & II, Golur,
Hosur, Netkal Hundi, Anemala, D. B. Kuppe
and Thimmana Hosa Halli.
Each Bhajan Mandali is named after its
village’s presiding deity and the singing of
bhajans for about an hour starting at sunset is
encouraged.
MEDICAL Ramesh Kumar, son of Janakamma, injured
in a fall from a tree, was substantially reimbursed for his
treatment.
To sort out the villages’ water-related issues,
GF has formulated a matrix for drinking
water sources and water filter locations and
has designated people in Anemala and D. B.
Kuppe to implement it.
AyurvediC Health
GF has tied up with Arogya Foundation
of India to conduct ayurveda-based health
and sanitation programmes using home
remedies and locally-available herbal and
other organic resources for the 23 villages
in Machur Sub-Cluster, H. D. Kote Taluk,
Mysore Dist. where GF’s initiatives are
conducted. This particular initiative
is supported by the Ekal Vidyalaya
Movement.
After these training programmes are
over, a Grama Arogya Sevika will be
appointed for each village: part of his
or her equipment will be a herbal first
aid kit, developed by ayurveda doctors
in Coimbatore. One programme was
scheduled for the 11th to 18th June for 30
women selected from all 23 villages.
