PHOTOGRAPHY CONTEST Arts Week 2010 Building Awareness through the Arts: Youth Perspectives on Global Issues All members of the Roosevelt Community (students, parents, and staff) are invited to participate in our Arts Week 2010 Photography Contest! As part of our events for Arts Week, our Roosevelt Community is encouraged to take photographs between September 20 and October 13 in the following categories: Perspectives on Global Issues What’s on your mind? What concerns you most about Global Issues? Here is your chance to express it through photography. I Love Peru! Peru is unique in the world! Take a photo that celebrates the diversity of Peru’s geography, architecture, food, or history. Portraits Photograph your favorite person/people in an artistic composition! Please make sure to read and follow the Photography Contest rules. Timeline: Submit photograph entries to arts@amersol.edu.pe by Wednesday, October 13 at 12:00 p.m. Pre­selection of top 10 photographs of each category will be announced to the community on Friday, October 15 at 3:30 p.m. ALL submitted photographs will be exhibited during Arts Week October 18­22 in the Media Center. Online voting will start on Monday, October 18 at 12:00 p.m. Voting closes on Thursday, October 21 at 8:00 p.m. Photography Contest Winners will be announced on Friday, October 22 during the All­School Arts Week Assembly at 8:15 a.m. Judging & Prizes Entries will be reviewed by a panel of school community judges who will pre­ select the best 10 images per category. Pre­selected photographs will be judged on originality and best representation of the category. The 10 images selected in each category will be posted online. Winners will be based on online voting open to all our community members. Prizes will be awarded to First, Second, and Third place winners in each category. First place photographs of each category also will be published in the 2011­2012 School Activities Calendar. Photography Contest Rules: · Photograph entries may be in digital or film­based formats. · All photographic submissions must be original and taken by the entrant (student, parent, or staff). · You may submit up to two (2) photo entries per person. · Photographs may be in horizontal or vertical. · If digital format, each photo must be a minimum of size of 1704 x 2272 pixels (approximately 4 megapixels) at 200 dots per inch (dpi). Any photo submitted that is smaller than this specification will not be eligible for the contest. · If film­based, each photo must be 20 x 30 cm. · Digital photos must be submitted in .jpg format by email to arts@amersol.edu.pe · Film­based photos must be submitted in an envelope to Mary Nakada, Director of Communications, in the Round House. · Each photo entry must be submitted with the following information: 1. Photographer’s Name 2. Contact Email 3. Specify: Student / Parent / School Staff member · If student, what grade are you in? 4. Category (please specify one) · Perspectives on Global Issues · I Love Peru · Portraits 5. Title of each photograph · The contestant grants Colegio Roosevelt the royalty­free and non­ exclusive right to distribute, publish and use the photograph in publications to promote Colegio Roosevelt to use as the institution sees fit for school publications. · IMPORTANT: Photographs taken of or by minors that are selected as finalists need to be approved by the minor’s parent or guardian.
