MYPYRAMID TRACKER INSTRUCTIONS
1)
Open your Internet Browser and enter the web address: www.mypyramidtracker.gov
2)
Click on “New User Registration” and fill out required information.
User ID:
Password:

Enter “New User Registration Profile” information.
4)
Click on “Save Today’s Changes”.
5)
When screen resets, click on “Proceed to Food Intake”.
6)
Enter food from your first diet record.
 Search for each item and choose closest item available on list.
 Click “Add” next to the item and it will be added to the list on the right side of the page.
 Continue searching and adding items until you have entered everything for your first
diet record. (Be sure to include all liquids, as well as foods.)
7)
When all foods and drinks have been entered, click on “Select Quantity” on the side of screen.
8)
Select serving size for each item. It may help to look at nutrition information on the item’s
package to see whether serving sizes are measured in ounces, fluid ounces, cups, etc.
9)
Enter the number of servings you ate/drank of each item in the right column.
10)
Click “Save and Analyze”.
After you go to one of the pages and print it off, DO NOT CLICK THE BACK ARROW. Click
“Analyze Your Food Intake” at the top of the page to go back and print off the other pages.
11)
You will need to print:
BEFORE YOU PRINT:
Go to “File” on your web browser, then “Page Setup”, and adjust Scale to 60%.


At top of page, select “Physical Activity Entry”.
Select “Standard Option” and enter ALL activities for the 24-hour period.

Click on “Select Duration” and enter the duration in minutes.

Click on “Save and Analyze.”
15)
At top of page, select “Energy Balance” and print results.

Repeat these instructions for your second and third diet record.
17) After inputting all 3 days, making sure you are currently logged on for the last day, click on
“Analyze Physical Activities,” then click “save and analyze,” “analyze” and finally “calculate physical
activity history.”

18) You should see a line graph with 3 plotted points that are connected. At the top of the graph
click on “1 week” and print this graph.
MENU PLANNER INSTRUCTIONS (1 Day Healthy Menu)

Log on to www.mypyramid.gov and look under Spotlights and click on “MyPyramid Menu
Planner.”

Fill out the required fields on the left side of the screen (name, age, weight, etc.) then click
submit.

You should be on the menu planner screen or you may need to click on “To gradually move
toward a healthier weight” to get to the menu planner screen.

On the top of your screen click on REGISTER.

Fill in required fields (user name, password, etc.) then click submit.

Click on MENU PLANNER on the top left of your screen.

Using what you have learned, start planning a menu for yourself by typing foods into the search
bar, click on “search,” and click on food that is the closest match.

Select the amount of food, select the meal it is for, you may select any add-ons and click on
“add.”
27)
You should see the bar graph increase in certain colors based on the foods you have added.
Continue to build your menu repeating steps 25-26 until all amounts have been fulfilled in each
vertical bar graph while staying in the green section of your horizontal bar graphs (below vertical bar
graph) and not exceeding your oils (yellow boxes below vertical bar graph).

Click on REPORTS on the top left of your screen.

In the Daily Menu box (top left of screen), click on GO NOW.

Check the analysis of your menu. Did you get “good” with a green check in every category? If
not, go back and change some items on your menu and repeat steps 28-30 until all items are “good”
with a green check.

Click on MENU PLANNER in the top left of your screen. Print your bar graphs. Note: You may
need to change the page layout to landscape to make it all fit on one page when printed. Check this
in print preview.
32)
Repeat steps 28-29. On the top left of your screen click on FILE, PRINT PREVIEW.
33)
Check that all items (menu on left side and chart in the middle) are shown on 1 page. You may
need to adjust the scale on the top center of your page. When everything fits on one page with out
getting cut off, print this page.

what you gained or learned from doing the dietary analysis. Do NOT explain what you did to
complete the project. I know this, since I’m the one who wrote the project for you . In your
analysis you should answer the following questions in PARAGRAPH/ESSAY FORMAT!


What did I notice about things I was lacking in my diet?
What was I eating too much of in my initial diet and what effects will that have on my
long term health?
 What can I do to make sure I am getting the proper nutrients in my daily diet?
 What did I learn from making the 1 day healthy menu for myself?
 How will I use all the info I learned in the nutrition unit to live a healthy life?
35) Using the score card, number all pages accordingly and NEATLY staple into a packet. Project is
due ______________________________________ at the end of the period. NO LATE PROJECTS
WILL BE ACCEPTED UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCE!
