Main Purpose
Responsible for 20% of the units output. Through a right first time mentality you will meet or
exceed your production targets. An essential part of the role is to ensure the plan is delivered at
best efficiencies with no compromises to quality through management of your team. You will have
the ability to instil pride and ownership within your team to enable them to drive performance.
Duties and
Responsibilities
The primary function of this role is to deliver the production schedule.
Manufacturing
 Maintaining visibility on the shop floor, driving performance of your team and support
functions to deliver the plan. Manage teams through a recognised appraisal system to
develop and drive performance by providing quality feedback.
 Using Iren reporting system and job closure variances identify waste streams with
preventative actions
 Manage production schedule in sequence and to plan and communicate all changes
 Collation and preparation of shift handover, ready for oncoming shift
 Prepare attend and contribute to Production, Planning, Health and Safety, Engineering,
and disciplinary meetings
 Seek out new and innovative ways to deal with production issues
Labour management
 Execute the shift training plan to improving performance / flexibility, and organise any
additional training through gap analysis that may be required
 The ability to manage Attendance/ Absenteeism/ Good timekeeping, working with the HR
department to highlight any personnel issues and resolve them. Maintain good employee
relations
 Actively engage with the shift team to solve business problems, drawing on the expertise
and talent on the shift.
Safety Management
 Ensure compliance to all site Health and Safety Regulations
 Proactively support the Site HS&E Agenda
 Complete Incident / accident investigations at the time of event aspiring to elimination of
root cause
 Carry out Risk Assessments
Engineering management
 Coordinate internal / external engineering activities in line with improvement plans and
safely executed. Method statements, PTW’s etc
 Manage engineering support teams and proactively contribute to the Site Engineering
Agenda. Including CM and service schedule
Quality Management
 Proactively support / contribute to the Site Quality Agenda.
 To deliver the standards as defined by BRC, ISO 14001 and OHSAS 18001. GMP / 5S &
Hygiene
 Trial new products and manage the launch of the process/ products.
 Preparation for audits and customer visits
 Complete NCR’s as per company procedure, and carry out investigations at the time of
event aspiring to elimination of root cause
 Ensure compliance to the Refresco Gerber Quality Management System





Line Management responsibility for Lead Operators, Shift Engineers, Operators and General
Factory Operatives
Responsible for correct outputs and quality of product
Comply with all hygiene, environmental and health and safety requirements as laid down
in policy and as trained.
Responsible for maintaining good hygiene within the business unit in line with regulatory,
company and customer requirements.

Person Specification:
Requirement
Qualifications/Education/Training:

Minimum GCSE or equivalent at Grade C or above in
Maths and English

Relevant NVQ Level 3 or HND equivalent
Experience:

Minimum 3 years managing teams within a highly
automated, complex production environment e.g.
multiple SKUs, product changeovers, packaging variants
etc.

Understands how KPIs are developed and has a track
record of achieving results and ‘raising the bar’. Must be
familiar with Production Performance Measurements.

Understands how to lead site performance from a basic
environment to the highest levels of efficiency and
standards. Has a track record of achieving this.
Knowledge:

Knowledge of health and safety requirements in factory
environment

Knowledge of food safety requirements in a factory
environment

Knowledge of team dynamics

Knowledge of manufacturing techniques
Skills and Competencies:

Strong management skills. A leader who sets the tone
by personal example and utilises a range of styles to get
the most out of their staff (situational leadership)

IT skills including Word, Excel, Power point and Outlook

Proven analytical and problem solving skills in real life
situations

Excellent communication skills (written and verbal) at all
levels


