What do I need to score on my Final Exams?
The final exam will make up 20% of your semester grade. In order to calculate what you need to score on the final exam in order to receive the grade you hope to earn this semester, you can do the following calculation.
Semester percentage = 80%
Final Exam Grade = 20%
(Semester % x 0.80) + (Final Exam % x 0.20) = Semester Grade
For Example:
A student currently earning an
88% in class and is hoping to earn an A for the semester…
(88 x .80) + ( 96 x .20)= 89.6%
…would need to earn a 96% or better on the final exam.

• Semester grade 61%
• Final exam grade 53%
• (61 x 0.8) + (53 x 0.2) =
• 48.8 + 10.6 = 59.4
• The student will not pass the class having percentage below 60%
Student #2
• Semester grade 93%
• Final exam 80%
• (93 x 0.8) + (80 x 0.2) =
• 74.4 + 16 = 90.4
• The student will keep his/her A for the semester
