Issue #3: March 2015 Office Hours: Monday – Friday 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Closed Saturday and Sunday (580) 234-0498 Maintenance Office/DIY/Work Orders: The History of March March is the third month of the year, has 31 days, and is named after Mars, the Roman god of war. March was originally the first month of the year in the Roman calendar because of its association with the first day of spring. The vernal or March equinox falls during this month between the 19th and 21st. March also marked a time when war would resume after the long winter months. January became the first month of the calendar year around 700 BCE. Although January 1st is New Year’s Day, many cultures and religions still celebrate the beginning of the New Year in March. She has been a valuable asset to our team and will be greatly missed! The birthstones for March are aquamarine and bloodstone which symbolize courage. Spring is just around the corner! Are you ready? We sure are! Hunt Update CEL Resident Satisfaction Survey Comments VANCE FAMILY HOUSING STAFF Jena McNaughton: Community Director Melissa Patterson: Leasing Agent Gina Penton: Maintenance Director Erica Davis: Maintenance Coordinator Ever wonder if anyone actually READS the CEL comments? Your community director does and I read every one from every property. MANY of you commented about your dishwasher. I’d like your help to provide guidance regarding replacements. Please email me and tell me what you like or dislike about your dishwasher. Be specific. “I hate it all” isn’t as helpful as “food remains on the dishes after washing”. Please include HOW you use your dishwasher – such as, “I pre-rinse and run it once a week, or “I run it daily”. Include the make and model. The make is usually on the front, the model number is usually on a plate or sticker on the inside front or side of the door. Wayne Toel: Maintenance Technician Maintenance Josh Wood: Maintenance Technician We’re talking dishwashers…please let us know if you like yours or tell us why not. Include make and model number. Thanks! Remember, if your dishwasher is fine, please let me know that, too, along with make and model. Email paula.baker@huntcompanies.com Thank you! Dishwashers With many survey comments on dishwasher woes, here are a few helpful tips: If you’ll not be running the dishwasher right away, lightly rinse dishes before loading If you’ll be running the dishwasher, no need to rinse, but scrape food debris from dishes We are happy to serve you! Don’t forget to like us on Facebook! Load plates facing the center – so half are facing one way, half the other Do not place plates or platters in front, parallel to the front of the dishwasher. This blocks the detergent from getting to the dishes. It’s ok to load them along the back. Dishwashers and sinks share a water line. Run water in the sink until hot, AND THEN start the dishwasher. This helps dissolve the detergent. Use the detergent cup, even with packets, so the detergent is dispensed during the wash cycle Different detergents work better in different areas, so ask what your neighbors are using Don’t buy more detergent than you’ll use in three months. It works best fresh. Scoop any debris out of the trap or the bottom of the dishwasher after each use Consider using a dishwasher cleaner every few months Issue #3: March 2015 MARCH SUNDAY 1 8 TUESDAY MONDAY WEDNESDAY THURSDAY FRIDAY SATURDAY 2 3 4 5 6 7 9 10 11 12 13 14 16 17 18 19 20 21 Daylight Savings Time Begins.
