Month Sudoku Puzzle The objective is to fill the grid with digits so that each column, each row, and each of the nine 3×3 sub-grids that compose the grid contains all of the digits from 1 to 9. Answer: Turmeric 14 Health & Fitness Health & Wellness Clinic We Remember Ongoing Clinic Services April 19th will be the 20th anniversary of the Oklahoma City bombing. I was actually living in OKC at the time of the bombing. I remember exactly when it happened: what I heard, what I felt, what I was doing. Things would never be the same for so many people. The Oklahoma City Memorial Marathon serves as a fundraiser for the Oklahoma City National Memorial and Museum. It is also an opportunity to teach 26,000 runners the story. I am one of those runners. I have never run the Oklahoma City Memorial Marathon but I thought to myself, what a special year to do it. Run to Remember is the theme of this marathon – remember the 168 victims who lost their lives on April 19, 1995. These are honorable miles, all 26.2 of them. The race takes place on April 26th. Maybe you can take 168 seconds of silence to reflect, as all of the runners will do at the starting line before the race. It will be an unforgettable day. The Oklahoma Standard was born from the aftermath of the OKC bombing. The Oklahoma Standard is simply neighbor helping neighbor regardless of cost. It is survival, friendship and community. The Oklahoma Standard continues to be the benchmark against which all efforts are measured. It is a high standard we expect to meet and Oklahomans are always up to the challenge. I feel that we have several residents who meet this standard in different ways. April is the month we honor our volunteers at Montereau who go above and beyond what is expected of them and give in a selfless manner. I want to thank you for all you do! Our volunteers give their time and energy both on campus and off campus. They really make a difference in the community. We also have many generous residents who give monetarily to several causes. We appreciate you so much. We also celebrate Easter! This is a glorious celebration of our risen Savior, Jesus Christ. He died on the cross and rose from the dead 3 days later to save us from our sins. Through his death, burial, and resurrection, Jesus paid the penalty for sin, thus purchasing for all who believe in him, eternal life. In closing, I have decided to reduce my workload here at Montereau to spend more time with my family. My three daughters are my top priority. I will still be here teaching your exercise classes and personal training, but will step down as the Wellness Coordinator to Wellness Instructor. Please welcome Vana as our new coordinator, and I look forward to continuing our wellness journey together. Katie Wellness Coordinator Dr. Chandini Sharma Tuesday Mornings For appointments call Charly (918) 491-5218 Blood Draw Wednesdays, 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Must have doctor’s order. See Charly for details. Audiologist The first and third Tuesday of each month. Call Airyn Cristiano, Audiologist, (918) 749-7711 for an appointment. Spice of the Month Common in Mexican, Mediterranean and Italian cuisines, oregano is a nutrient dense seasoning. Oregano has anti-bacterial properties. Its volatile oils have been shown to inhibit the growth of bacteria. In fact, researchers in Mexico found oregano to be more effective against the amoeba Giardia lamblia than a commonly used prescription drug. Phytonutrients in oregano have also been shown to function as potent antioxidants that can prevent oxygenbased damage to cell structures throughout the body. On a per gram fresh weight basis, oregano demonstrated 4 times more antioxidant activity than blueberries. Oregano is common in several different types of cuisines. Try sprinkling some on your next slice of pizza. It is also a great addition to soups, tomato sauces and eggs. Ask your server for the spice rack to add oregano and other healthy herbs and spices to your diet. Quiz: Next month’s spice gives curry its yellow color and may keep your brain healthy. Can you guess what it is? Answer on opposite page. 15
