Texas Tech Welcomes Canadian Students Canadian students are coming to Texas Tech University for excellent academic opportunities at affordable prices. Students and faculty here are tackling some of the world’s most challenging problems and opportunities in engineering, business, agriculture, law and energy technologies. Future health care professionals can pursue nine pre-professional degrees, which can be followed with a hands-on education at the Texas Tech Health Science Center, including innovative research and extensive clinical experience. TTUHSC has five professional schools: Medicine, Pharmacy, Nursing, Biomedical Sciences and Allied Health Sciences, which includes careers in physical therapy, occupational therapy, optometry and communication disorders. Texas Tech has nearly 140 first degree programs, 103 master’s degree programs, and 59 doctoral programs. The liberal arts programs are counted among the top 10 percent in the nation by Phi Beta Kappa, the country’s oldest undergraduate honor society. Texas Tech is only one of three public institutions in Texas granted a PBK chapter. International students are eligible for competitive scholarships based on academic achievement and financial need. Several Canadian students have received athletic scholarships for baseball, basketball and rodeo. Student Life Students at Texas Tech enjoy one of the nation’s largest sports and recreation centers, with indoor basketball, volleyball, racquetball courts, soccer arena, swimming pools, and jogging track. The center has weight training, cardiovascular training and a dance/aerobic studio. The center organizes intramural and club competition.
