Summer 2014 Transfer Student Academic Advising Sessions Social Sciences Undergraduate Student Affairs will conduct summer advising sessions for new transfer students. These sessions will be conducted by major in a small group setting. Each session will have a presentation overview of degree requirements, recommendations and enrollment in courses for Fall Quarter. Academic Counselors will conduct the sessions and you will have time to meet with them individually. Attendance at an academic advising session is MANDATORY! Students who do not attend a mandatory session will have a HOLD on their record preventing them from enrolling in Fall courses. The hold will not be lifted until advising has been completed. NOTE: A CONFIRMED RESERVATION IS REQUIRED FOR YOU TO HAVE ADVISING. You must be present throughout the entire session. Be sure to arrive promptly as late arrivals will not be accommodated. The doors will be locked. Session 2: Tuesday, July 8, 10:00am-1:00pm Social & Behavioral Sciences Gateway (SBSG) room 1241 What do I bring to my session? You will need to bring a pencil/pen and any copies of your community college/other college transcripts. Where do I park? The closest parking structure to the School of Social Sciences is the Social Science Parking Structure located off of Campus Drive and Stanford. Parking costs approximately $10.00 for an all day permit. (subject to change) SPECIAL NOTE: If you are completing IGETC (for community college transfers only), you must provide our office with an official IGETC certification. Speak to your counselor at your community college to verify your IGETC status before attending your advising session. IGETC must be completed prior to matriculation to UCI or you will be held responsible for completing UCI General Education Requirements. If you are unable to complete full UC-IGETC prior to transfer, you MUST file an OFFICIAL Partial IGETC with our office by the Fall Quarter. You should speak with your community college about a Partial IGETC. Students with a Partial IGETC will be given some options on how to complete it within the first year of matriculation to UCI. Note: Failure to have a partial IGETC on file will result in you having to complete the required UCI General Education Requirements.
