All courses are college preparatory. A cumulative GPA is calculated at the end of every academic year and includes grades earned at EA beginning in ninth grade. AP/honors courses are weighted by adding .3 to the regular grade. Only grades from EA classes are calculated in the GPA. We offer the following 21 AP courses: Art History, Biology, Calculus AB, Calculus BC, Chemistry, Chinese, Computer Science, Environmental Science, European History, French, Human Geography, Latin (Vergil), Macroeconomics, Microeconomics, Music Theory, Physics, Spanish, Statistics, Studio Art, US Government & Politics, and US History. AP scores of 4 and 5 are reported on students’ transcripts. Due to the structure of the curriculum and scheduling parameters, few students take AP courses prior to 11th grade. As well, Episcopal offers 39 honors courses. JTerm A new academic program implemented by The Episcopal Academy for the 2013-14 school year, JTerm is a two-week, interdisciplinary program between the first and second semesters in January. Students take one intensive, standard course on or off-campus. Courses are hands-on, experiential and/or project based. Global Online Academy (GOA) The Episcopal Academy Students with particular academic passions or who wish to pursue topics not specifically offered with the regular curriculum have the opportunity to enroll in for-credit courses through Global Online Academy. GOA is a small group of top college preparatory schools around the world. The grades earned are not calculated in the GPA. Challenging and nurturing Academic Integrity Mind, Body, and Spirit, The Episcopal Academy does not send disciplinary records to post-secondary institutions. We counsel students to answer honestly any question regarding their disciplinary history on a college application. However, information concerning a student’s academic integrity or a particularly egregious infraction may be disclosed should we determine that it indicates conduct that might impact directly on the student’s ability to act appropriately in a college setting. The Mission of we inspire boys and girls to lead lives of purpose, faith, and integrity. 2015 Standardized Test Ranges ACT Summary Middle 50% Mean English 24 - 33 28.5 Math 25 - 31 28.0 Reading 24 - 33 28.6 Science Reasoning 25 -
