WEIJING SUN, M.D. Weijing Sun, MD is an Associate Professor of Medicine, University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine; Attending physician of the University of Pennsylvania Health System; Director of the Upper GI, Pancreatic, and Hepatobiliary Cancer Group, and Associate Director of GI Cancer Program of the Abramson Cancer Center at the University of Pennsylvania. Board certified in Internal Medicine and Medical Oncology; a member of the Global Health Programs of the University. Dr. Sun graduated from Shanghai Medical University (Fudan University). He had his Internal Medicine residency training at the Loyola University Medical Center, and his Hematology-Oncology fellowship training at the University of Pennsylvania. Dr. Sun is focusing on the treatment and clinical research of GI malignances. He have conducted many clinical trials for the development and evaluation of novel drugs and drug combinations in GI cancer. These clinical trials that he oversees are funded through the NCI, ECOG and pharmaceutical companies. He has authored many publications including original clinical research articles, reviews, and invited editorial commends in a variety of peer reviewed journals. He has also written chapters as a GI oncology expert for several medical textbooks (e.g. WebMD, ACP Medicine, Textbook of Gastroenterology). As an expert in GI oncology, Dr. Sun has been invited as a speaker and faculty member for regional and national/international CME conferences. Dr. Sun serves as a member of editorial board or review committee for several professional journals (an editorial Board member of ‘Clinical Colorectal Cancer’, and a reviewer of ‘Journal of Clinical Gastroenterology’,’ Medical Science Monitor’, ‘The Cancer Biology and Therapy’, ‘Disease of Colon and Rectum’, and ‘Expert Opinion on Investigational Drugs’).
