No. 10/8 Florida State vs. Louisville Saturday, Oct. 17, 2015 Florida State Student-Athlete Quotes Junior Wide Receiver, Kermit Whitfield On Jimbo claiming poise was responsible for second-half improvements: “I don’t think anything really changed, we just kept play our game and kept elevating and evolving.” On if there is a universal understanding among team members that there are improvements to be made: “We didn’t play our best ball in the first half. Second half, that’s when we came out and started playing FSU football.” On feeling the pressure to perform: “We were getting pressure from the [Louisville] defense and we couldn’t really make the plays we really wanted to play. During halftime we went to the drawing board and started making plays.” Sophomore Tailback, Dalvin Cook On the reason he is able to break off such long runs during the game: “O-Line. They don’t get enough credit and the receivers, they don’t get enough credit for the blocking they’re doing. They’re the highlight of everything I do right now.” On his thoughts on Kermit Whitfield’s game performance the past few games: “Everyone knows Kermit has big play potential. He’s given the ball and he’s going to make a play.” Why do you think the team has handled being in tight situations in games? “Coach Fisher gets us prepared very well. He’s hard on us in practice and puts us in lots of different situations to get us ready.” Sophomore Linebacker, Jacob Pugh How dangerous is this defense when you’re able to have waves of defenders come out, not just one-person break under pressure? “I feel like we’re the best defense in the country and nobody can stop what we do or what we bring. We’re going to keep on bringing it every week and every Saturday in and out the game.” Junior Defensive End, DeMarcus Walker How were you able to contain Lamar Jackson? “Our coach made a big emphasis all week, that he was on my mind all week. Keep him controlled because he is a great athlete and very fast, so we wanted to collapse the pocket on him.” What have you seen with the mentality growing? “We’re just playing team football. We’re playing like we have nothing to lose. We don’t think about the scoreboard, we don’t think about winning or losing. We just go out there and play football. Play the next play.”
