with just over 600 students. Today, Darton is
one of the largest state colleges in Southwest
Georgia located on a 180-acre campus in Albany,

HONORS PROGRAM
FUNDING YOUR EDUCATION
The Honors Program at Darton State College is designed to develop the
abilities and potential of academically talented students as they begin
their studies and prepare to transfer to a four-year college or university.
The program provides students with enhanced learning experiences that
prepare them to excel in their chosen fields of study and to improve life in
their communities. Students in the Honors Program develop critical thinking
and leadership skills, close interaction with faculty and other highly motivated
students, and increase their chances of transferring to a top university. Guest
speakers, cultural events, and field trips are just some of the challenging
and creative learning experiences students receive in the Honors Program.

Consistently recognized as one of the best values in undergraduate college
education, Darton State College is committed to helping students and their
families find ways to fund a Darton education. We offer several types of
financial aid, including grants and scholarships, loans, work-study, and student
employment.
Scholarships:
Darton offers an array of competitive scholarships for qualifying resident and
nonresident students, including merit and need-based awards. Darton also
awards scholarships based on talent, ability and student achievement. Many
scholarships have specific deadlines, application or audition requirements.

Campus Life at Darton State College is more than just classes; it’s a
socially active, vibrant, and rewarding experience! Our students have
access to an assortment of exciting social, educational, cultural and
recreational programs including more than 32 clubs & organizations in
which students can participate.
Sports clubs like the fishing team, men’s basketball, and trap and
skeet shooting teams offer students an opportunity to compete at the
recreational level.
Intramurals offer men’s, women’s and co-ed league sports, seasonal
sports, and individual sporting events throughout the year.
Our outdoor recreation and education offers many exciting outdoor
recreational programs, which utilize adventure based programming
to educate participants in effective leadership, teamwork, and the
environment. Programs include open climbs, night climbs, camping
trips, white water rafting, beach days and much more!
Concerts, featuring nationally recognized acts, comedy shows, festivals,
recreational sports, and exceptionally unique facilities represent only a
small portion of the tremendous opportunities that await our students.

PHI THETA KAPPA
DARTON AMBASSADORS
An invitation to join Phi Theta Kappa is more than just a recognition of hard work and
academic excellence, it also means opportunity. PTK is an international honor society, which
recognizes and encourages academic achievement among two-year college students.
PTK members have the chance to develop leadership skills, participate in service and
fellowship activities, and develop friendships with scholars from around the world. Members
also have the opportunity to participate in social and service gatherings, club meetings,
conferences, and college fairs. Phi Theta Kappa membership is an important indicator of
student success, both at the two year level and beyond. In addition to free college search
tools, PTK offers transfer scholarships only to its members, and many four year institutions
offer exclusive Phi Theta Kappa scholarships.
Darton State College’s award-winning Phi Theta Kappa chapter, Chi Xi, is active on campus,
online, and at the regional and international level. DSC’s chapter has received many of
the Georgia Region’s top awards. Additionally, both the chapter and individual members
have received international recognition for their contributions in research, writing, and

Darton’s Student Government Association (SGA) offers students a unique
experience. The SGA serves as a liaison between the Darton student body and
the College’s Administration, the Board of Regents, the state government and the
public. This gives students a voice and a forum to make changes. Membership
consists of the Executive Council, the Senate and the Cabinet. SGA advocates the
interests of Darton students and works to better the student experience through
community events and initiatives.

Athletics play an important part of college life at Darton. Top-notch facilities
and 10 intercollegiate programs provide our students with opportunities to
participate with or support our highly competitive Cavaliers. Whether you’re
painted red with your friends along the sidelines at an evening soccer game
or training for a national title with our renowned coaching staff, opportunities
abound with Darton State College Athletics.
The Darton State College Physical Education complex covers nearly 100,000
sq. ft. and features an indoor 25-yard by 25-meter pool in the aquatic center,
aerobics/dance studio, 3,000 seat Cavalier Arena, renovated fitness center,
indoor 1/8 mile walking track, recreational gym, classrooms, lounge areas
and locker rooms. The grounds also include an 8 court tennis complex.
Between the athletic programs and facilities, there are ample opportunities
for collegiate and recreational athletes.

Darton State College identifies our residence halls as living/learning
environments. Residence life offers educational and social opportunities
that promote personal growth, development, wellness and cultural
diversity. Darton operates two suite style residence halls.
Darton Commons and Darton Village South offers one and two
bedroom fully furnished units that include a kitchenette, living room, and
private bedroom and bathroom for each student. Both feature common
lounge areas, community kitchen/laundry rooms, fitness facilities, and
wireless Internet.

Welcome to Albany!
Darton’s 180-acre campus is conveniently located in Albany, GA . As the hub of Southwest
Georgia for shopping and cultural activities as well as the primary trade center for the
region, Albany offers something for everyone. Shopping includes boutique style shops
in addition to the name brand stores and the mall. Enjoy the outdoors from hunting
and fishing to kayaking, biking or even try out the BMX bike track at Chehaw Park. Take
in the arts with Albany’s theater and lively music district or go to a professional arena
football game. With a population of more than 77, 000 you will find the small town charm
while offering the comforts of a big city including museums, shopping, restaurants, and
entertainment, making it the ideal place to continue your education.
Albany, GA is centrally located between the Florida beaches and Atlanta. Three hours
south of Atlanta, 1.5 hours north of Tallahassee, and only three hours from the beach.

CAMPUS COMMUNITY PUBLIC SAFETY
The Darton State College Department of Public Safety provides a safe environment for the students,
faculty, staff and visitors on campus. Darton Police Officers are sworn law enforcement backed with
the same authority on campus as the city police, and committed to your safety. The Department of
Public Safety provides security 24/7 to the Darton community - ensuring you reach your car safely
while on campus, escorting you to your residence, or any building on campus after hours.
DARTON BIKE CONTROL
Darton State College’s Bike Patrol assists the Department of Public Safety by patrolling the campus
every evening.
EMERGENCY CALL BOXES
Darton has 30 emergency call boxes across campus. The emergency call boxes, when activated,
notify Darton Police immediately, via the police radio.
STUDENT HEALTH CENTER
Darton’s student health center is staffed by a medical assistant and registered nurse practitioner.
The center promotes overall health and well-being of students by providing assessments and
assisting students in the management of health-related concerns. DSC health services staff
work to provide high quality, cost-effective medical care, as well as, focusing
on promoting good health and education.
