CHARLES MANSON
Background
Charles was born on November 12, 1934 in Cincinnati, Ohio
His Mother, Kathleen Maddox, had him at 16 and gave him her boyfriend's
(at the time) last name.
In 1940 Kathleen was found guilty of armed robbery and sent to jail leaving
Charles in hands of her family members.
Manson at 6 years old had to live with several different family members.
His grandmother was too religious, one of his uncles dressed him as a
female, and his other uncle killed himself while taking care of Manson.
Charles had no consistent behavior to model in his life.
Once Kathleen had been released she no longer wanted Charles and tried to
sell him for a pitcher of beer and find foster homes.
Manson, feeling rejected, turned to a life of crime.
he spent his teenage years in and out of reform schools, robbing stores, and
stealing cars, usually getting caught.
After Getting out of his first imprisonment he married Rosalie Jean Willis, a
waitress, he also got her pregnant.
A Life of Crime
He spent most of his life in trouble with the law.
His first crimes were burglaries and was caught and sent to a juvenile center
but escaped and then sent to another, the pattern continued.
In October 1951 he was in a low security institution for one of his robberies,
he was near parole but then denied due to the fact that he took a razor blade
to someones throat. He was then sent to a high security federal Reformatory
( Prison camp) in Virginia.
After getting out he and Rosalie had taken a stolen car across state lines and
he was charged with a federal crime, she got out of it because she was
pregnant.

breaks the rules of probation.)
he violated parole and had to serve 10 years in United States Penintentiary.
In 1966 he had spent nearly 17 years of his life in jail.

Evidence that points to this:
The gun used in the murder matched one that someone had seen manson
using, a .22 caliber revolver.
Abigail folger was one of the people murdered, he had met with her nearly 2
years before hand and she had not given him the money he wanted , thus
leaving him very angry.
They had found finger prints
His sentence is life in a California Prison, He was sentenced to death penalty
but it was revoked.
Quote
"You know, a long time ago being crazy meant something. nowadays
everybodys crazy."
Charles Manson had no nicknames.
I believe that Manson relates to the Differential Association theory.
He was influenced form the beginning to be a criminal. His mother had him
illegitimately when she was 16 and then was a criminal herself. She was in
and out of jail leaving him without a good role model. His grandmother was
so religious that he would’ve ended up rebelling. His uncle killed himself
and the other uncle dressed him like a female which may also cause
rebellion.
Additionally, when he was grown up his main influences were
criminals. While spending most of his time in jail he learned even more
criminal activity. Every time he got out he went back to crime. Eventually
his criminal activity increased to cults performing murders. I believe he
applies to the Differential Association theory because of the very many bad
influences in his life.
