What not to do: How should we get started? Apps are cool, we should have a mobile version of the Saint Leo website. Lets spend $300 instead of $10,000. How did that work out for us? You get what you pay for! • Key constituencies gather each December to determine strategic priorities (Key Results Areas) for the coming year. • 3-5 KRAs are chosen, Mobile Apps is a 2012-2013 KRA • In January, teams are formed for each KRA to 1. Determine what a successful end result will be 2. Outline a plan for the year 3. Determine how to measure the results 4. Plan a feedback loop to determine follow-ups • In the annual budget process, KRAs are funded before any operational or capital budgets • Teams meet through the year to work on tasks and review status. Results are reported in December’s meeting for the current year’s KRAs. MOBILE APP STRATEGY • integrate the user experience with our three cornerstones of improved learning, increased efficiencies and access to additional services or information • needs assessment on how our students will interact with our mobile environment and what services would be best utilized • Why do we need an app and do our users even know they need one? • success is dependent on understanding our faculty, staff, and students and their needs for mobility. MOBILE APP STRATEGY (CONT’D) To be successful, apps need to do one of the following: • Make things easier – i.e. mobile access to grades, campus maps, catalog, access to e-books and class discussions from anywhere at any time? • Make it fun and engaging – i.e. make a game out of the apps.
