Enrique’s research on Frida Kahlo’s
painting ‘Columna Rota’ (which depicts
her suffering from a serious accident and
orthopedic dependent) led him to look further into orthopedic instruments. He also
researched the beauty and elegance of the
1940’s Hollywood style in corsets and padding.
These two elements combined forms the basis of his
collection. On his designs he says, “The point of my
collection is that the structures aren’t covered anymore;
now these pieces are the main thing and are more
important than the actual dress.” Enrique has no plans
for his next collection yet as he has recently got a job
working for Abercrombie & Fitch in the USA.
