The novel I chose is "Enrique's Journey: A Boy Left Behind " by Sonia Nazario. Enrique faced
poverty and starvation. His mom also left him and his sister when he was only 5 years old.
They had to deal with Corrupt police, deadly gangs, and violent crime. I think that this will play a
big role in the novel because they have made the decision to face all of these hardships just to
go to another country. It shows us how fortunate we really are. I made my prediction based on
this quote from the story, “They are cold, hungry and helpless. They are hunted like animals by
corrupt police, bandits and gang members deported from the United States”.
