Had a few discussions with Dena and Dennis, worked on senator paperwork, and created a new senator login sheet. C. Treasurer Dean- Attended BOR with President Mariani. Would like everyone to know that she is overloaded this semester and is thinking of resigning from her position as Treasurer. (President Mariani would also like for everyone to know that our V.P. has resigned) V. Old Business A. Sheila Bonnand would like us to go check out the new library. She is still checking in on the Left and Right Arm comfy chairs. The representative told her that they come in left and right arms, but when they arrived there were only right arms. The old furniture from the library is spread out around campus. VI. New Business A. Approval of Student Organizations and Programs of Study. i. Returning Senators only need to fill out the Directory Release form and the Senator Qualifications form. New Senators need to fill out all of the necessary paperwork. C. For the next few weeks there will be surveys handed out around the school. It is a simple survey that asks students what they like or want to see from the facilities. We want to give it out to student who have been here longer than a year, who know the campus a little more than a person who is here for a semester. Senator Brewer and Treasurer Dean created the survey, get people to know whom the Associated Students are. We want to get a good number of the population, Advisor WagnerFossen said that there are about 2,000 students on campus and Senator Brewer said that she would make at least 300 copies. Next Friday will be the surveys will be tabulated. Senator Pierce and Treasurer Dean said that they would help hand out the surveys and make sure that they are returned to the drop box. D. The printer in the Student government office is not working at the moment. We are getting error messages that say that the document wouldn’t print. Advisor WagnerFossen says that we need to tell IT that there are three different log ins and that is where the computer might be having trouble. We might need IT to do a computer clean up. VII. Committee Reports A. Please sign up for a committee. It is required as a Senator to be in a committee. The committees include Decorating, Wage Addendum Committee (WAC), Maintenance, and Publications. VIII. Open Discussion A.Daphne Collins is an adjunct instructor and has a son that attends MSU in Bozeman. He recently had pneumonia and lost part of his lung. Senator Rardon was wondering if we could do a fundraiser for the student. Since he is Bozeman, we can’t do SEAP. His mother is an Anthropology teacher from California. Advisor Wagner-Fossen suggested that we contact the AS-MSU in Bozeman and see if they can help. Something that you have to consider is that if you help this person, are you going to help everyone in the same situation? If the Senate did this as a community fundraiser, Judy Hay says that it falls outside community help. A smaller campus group can take it on. PTK could do this under AS-MSU- Great Falls. Advisor Wagner-Fossen said that this hard to do with little information, but is very noble. B. There is another student group that is working with Judy Hay at the moment and has been through Exec. Cab. And will be in the Senate for approval next week. C. Returning Senators, don’t forget to pick up your check from last semester. You can pick them up at the Cashiers counter in the Students’ One Stop Shop. IX. Adjournment Senator Edwards moved to close the meeting and was seconded by Senator Hernandez at 4:55. The motion passed unanimously. Secretary Margaret Gurley AS-MSU Great Falls COT
