highlights which included:
o US News rated KU as one of the top online programs; in the top 20%.
o Fast Company ranked KU as 3rd in innovative companies
o Kaplan University appears on the list of 10% of lowest net price among for profit
institutions
 KU recently earned Project Management Institute accreditation for project management.

closely with student needs.
Follow-up from the August Meeting
 Student Advisory Board Facebook Page
Amanda Bell
Amanda consulted with KU Social Media Services about the committee’s request for a Student
Advisory Board Facebook page. The Student Advisory Board may pursue a Facebook page but it
will not be managed by KU staff and will be considered “unofficial.” Amanda encouraged
members to consider their options and decide to pursue or not.

Spreading the word about KU Resources
Jessica Hill
KU members (Amanda, Jessica and Josef) had a meeting recently to discuss the August Student
Advisory Board resource discussion. Current student resources were discussed in the context of
adding to, revising or communicating availability. Jessica provided a brief overview of the
1
orientation and academic support centers that are currently available. Josef will be continuing the
conversation in the October meeting.
Career Network Demonstration
Sabrina Marquez
 Sabrina shared a PowerPoint presentation which featured information about KU Career Services
and previewed the Career Network 2.0 system.
 Gale asked if the Student Advisory Board can be incorporated group. Sabrina stated that she will
look into this possibility and come back with a response at a later date.
 Austin states that the Beta test was very impressive and looks forward to the launch. He asked
when it will go live. Sabrina answered that the goal is by the end of 2014.
 Gale added that it looks user friendly and encouraged everyone to use the mock interview
feature.
 Members voiced admiration and excitement to the new feature.
Record Attendance
 Austin congratulated attendees on a record attendance.

Meeting Format
Austin Mahoney
 Austin asked attendees if they prefer the phone or adobe format for future meetings. He added
that while the presentation and/or communication can lag, adobe has made some noticeable
improvements. For one, the app allows for easy mobile accessibility.
 Jennifer stated that a phone meeting is more difficult due to her personal environment in the
evenings.
 Gale recommended using the phone if no presentations are scheduled and adobe during
presentation meetings.
 After discussion, Austin concluded that adobe will be incorporated moving forward but not used
exclusively at this point.
Navigating the Student Advisory Board Website
Austin Mahoney
 Austin asked if members have accessed the public Student Advisory Board website page yet
(http://www.kaplanuniversity.edu/student-experience/advisory-board.aspx) and if so, what their
feedback is.
 Jacelyn responded that the site is very straight forward and easy to manage.
 Gale asked if there is a method for students to submit questions to the Student Advisory Board.
Austin explained that there is a form featured on the website where students can submit topics to
the board for consideration.
The next meeting is October 21st at 7 pm CST/ 8 pm EST
