POOL RULES: BHA GENERAL RULES APPLICABLE TO ALL POOL USERS:
1.
Except for Guest Fees, all fees for use of the swimming pool and swimming lessons will be paid to the Association Administrator PRIOR to use of the
pool.
2.
Parent/Guardians are responsible for the actions of their children under age 18 and guest, whether parent is present or not at the pool.
3.
All swimmers MUST sign the sign-in sheet upon entering the pool complex. Guards will verify membership and collect guest fees.
4.
HEALTH RULE: No one will be allowed in the pool with sun tan oil. Waterproof sunscreen is permitted. People with infectious/communicable diseases,
anyone who has been ill with vomiting and/or diarrhea in the past 2 weeks or with open wounds will NOT be allowed in the pool. Band-Aids are NOT
allowed in the pool.

HEALTH RULE: Showers are required of ALL swimmers prior to entering the pool.

HEALTH RULE: Regardless of age, if a child is NOT potty trained or is in diapers (of any kind, including swim diapers), they will NOT be allowed
in the large pool at any time. Non-potty trained children must be in swim diapers to use the wading pool. Diapers are to be changed in designated diaper
changing area only. (Restrooms)

A parent or babysitter must accompany all children under the age of 12. It is recommended that the babysitter be at least 18 years old. The babysitter is to
identify him/her when signing in. Written permission from parents for babysitter to accompany child to pool will be required.
8.
Any child who cannot stand with his/her head above the water, must be accompanied at all times while in the pool by a responsible adult or babysitter.
Parents/babysitter must directly supervise and be within arms length of child at all times. (Only exception is if child has passed the swim proficiency test.)
9.
Life vests and water wings are allowed, however, the person in the vest/wings MUST be accompanied, be under the direct supervision of and within
arm’s reach of a responsible adult/guardian or babysitter.
10. ALL swimmers age 18 years old and younger must pass the swim proficiency test prior to being allowed in the deep end of the pool. The test is as
follows: Beginning at the shallow end, swim (crawl stroke) to the deep end and tread water for 30 seconds, then swim back to the shallow end. At no time
will the swimmer be allowed to touch the bottom or sides of the pool. At no time will non-swimmers be allowed beyond the blue line of the pool. Passage
of the test is at the discretion of the guard administering the test. There is no “appeal” process. At the discretion of the guards on duty, the swimmer
may be asked to “retake” the swim test. If for any reason the swimmer does not pass the test, they may retake the test on the next swim day.
11. Children over the age of 6 are not allowed in the wading pool.
12. Parent/guardian/babysitter is to remain in the enclosed fence area of the wading pool at all times with their child.
13. No running or playing around the wading pool. Persons using the wading pool MUST pay the membership fee or guest fee and sign in.
14. No sitting is allowed between wading pool enclosure fence and large pool. It is necessary to keep this walkway open for easy pool access for all users.
15. No smoking is allowed in the pool area and community center, or within 50 feet of the pool/community center. Oral use of tobacco, nicotine
products, cigarettes, vaping, e-cigarettes, nicotine, and nicotine delivery devices are prohibited in the pool area and community center.
16. The following will NOT be allowed within the fenced area of the pool: Glass containers, gum, pets, bikes (except to be stored in bike rack), sharp or
metallic objects (bobby pins, nails, safety pins, etc.) Service animals are allowed in the deck area when accompanying users require them. See WAC 246260-151.
17. Water toys allowed: fins, snorkels, facemasks with plastic face shield, Nerf balls and diving rings. SOFT/swishy balls will be allowed at the discretion of
the lifeguards. NO footballs, basketballs, soccer balls, etc. Inflatable toys, rafts, inner tubes, etc. are NOT allowed. Glass facemasks are prohibited. No
bats, tennis rackets, lacrosse or hockey stocks or other similar items will be allowed. Disallowed items will be taken by the guards, the items will be
returned only to the parent or guardian over the age of 21.
18. No food or beverage in the pool or within 4 feet of the pool’s edge. There are tables available for use. PLEASE place all trash in garbage cans located
near pool entrance and clean up and spills.
19. Alcoholic beverages are NOT allowed in the fenced pool area.
20. Personal radios/CD players, etc. are NOT allowed unless used with headphones.
21. Lawn chairs will be allowed in the grassy area and on the pool deck as long as they do not interfere with the lifeguards. Lounge chairs are available on a
first come basis at the pool.
22. Only the lifeguards are to sit in the elevated “Guard Chair”.
23. No running allowed on the pool deck.
24. Horseplay, pushing, dunking or diving off shoulders is not permitted in or out of the pool.
25. All swimmers must be in proper swim attire to use pool—main and wading pools. No cutoffs or t-shirts allowed.
26. No diving into the shallow end of the pool.
27. Lifeguards have the authority to restrict or expel any person from the pool enclosure for violation of the pool rules and/or acts that disrupt the use or
operation of the pool, for language or behavior that they deem inappropriate. This is a family pool. Use of profane/foul language and inappropriate
displays of public affection will not be tolerated. Expulsion from pool may be for a minimum of 24 hours or the entire season. If expelled from pool for
failure to comply with pool rules, membership fee will NOT be refunded in whole or in part.
28. Individual membership may be suspended if rules are constantly disregarded. For pool users under the age of 18 years, we do reserve the right to make
pool usage contingent upon direct supervision of parents.
29. Lifeguard will refer all questions regarding these rules to the BHOA Facility Chairperson or designee.
30. Lifeguards have FINAL say on ALL matters related to the health and safety of those using the pool.
GUEST RULES:
In addition to the above rules, the following additional rules apply to guests.
31. Guest (Anyone not paying BHOA yearly dues) MUST be accompanied by a resident of the BHOA at all times while using the pool.
32. Residents are responsible for the conduct of their guests and will inform them of the pool rules.
33. Residents are responsible for the guest fees and must register with the lifeguards.
34. All non-BHOA pool members must have a BHOA resident sponsor.
