M A C h a s f o u n d a Tr e a s u r e r f o r o u r B o a r d !
Nabil M, who works in the financial investment area, has agreed to
serve as Treasurer for the Board once MAC registers as a Society. W e are
very pleased that we will benefit from Nabil ’s commitment & expertise.
Welcome, Nabil!
(Now we are looking for a ‘Vice Chair’ and a ‘Secretary’.)
A bit of a helping hand from CMHA & Fraser Health
CMHA & Fraser Health have managed to find a bit of money for MAC,
and we managed to find a way to spend it! MAC is now the pleased owner
of a new camera (which doesn ’t require any duct tape to hold it together),
a second lap-top computer (which is about half the weight of the old one),
plus a couple of wire grid stands for displaying our art. Thank you! to both
CMHA and Fraser Health!

Announcing; ‘Art Work’ with Kelsey
To compliment the ‘Lunch Break’ sessions with Carlie, we now have ‘Art
W ork’ sessions with Kelsey, the ECHO Vocational Coordinator, on the 2nd
Tuesday of the month. In February (Tuesday the 9th), Kelsey will outline
how she came to work in the employment field and explain her role with
ECHO. She is also very interested in hearing from MAC members about
the topics we want her to cover in the coming months.

S.M.A.R.T. GOALS!
With Carlie to lead our discussion about ‘SMART Art Goals’, we explored some of our
goals for 2016. SMART is an acronym for ‘Specific, Measurable, Attainable, Relevant, & with
a Time component’. Among other things, we came up with some great ideas for helping
Teresa to create more art!
‘Actively Artistic’ is running on the
2nd & 4th Thursdays for 2016.
The session on the 2nd Thursday will be from 1:30 to 2:30, while the session on
the 4th Thursday will run a little longer, from 1:30 to 3pm. Drop in program, no sign-up required. ‘Actively Artistic’ is our free art/craft session held once or twice a month at ECHO, and
it also serves as our orientation program for those who would like to join MAC. MAC members lead the sessions: Louise, Sharley, Tricia, Rebeka, and Ella (who often does an origami
project). As before, there will be times when the schedule is changed due to ECHO activities
or MAC scheduling challenges. It is a good idea to check with the Clubhouse at 604 5269606, or email Teresa at myartistscorner.1@gmail.com

NWA held its Annual General Meeting in late January and presented its show calendar for 2016. The group, which now includes Barb Wendzich, will have more than 10
shows this year! MAC will participate in almost all of these events, so watch for updates
as we go along.

VOLUNTEER CORNER
Vice Chair & Secretary
We are now looking for a Vice-Chair and a Secretary for our Board, to get us started as a nonprofit society. The Vice-Chair will take over when the Chair isn’t available, and will help develop
a succession plan for the Board. The Secretary is responsible for taking minutes and keeping
tracking the Board’s decisions. There will be monthly Board meetings and the term would be 2
or 3 years.
And we introduce Justin as a volunteer, a ‘Friend of MAC’.
‘…As a volunteer for MAC I have performed a variety of tasks.  These tasks have included assisting with set-up and take down at the Shadbolt art show, arranging art stored on site by artist,
additions to frame inventory and, most recently, creating backing for frames.  It is the variety of
tasks and opportunity to spend time with so many creative and welcoming people that keeps me
volunteering with MAC.’ Thank you for all your help, Justin!
FIND OUR ARTIST:
Please help us find Tony C, who was briefly connected to
MAC several years ago. We have one piece to be returned;
a lovely large portrait, ‘Sara’, blue on white acrylic on canvas. ‘Sara’
needs to be re-united with Tony!

Portrait Styles

when we had our ‘Styles Overview’

both LIVING (as opposed to dead) and
LOCAL (Canadian & BC)! Check out
our website to see the examples of
how artists capture the essence of the
people they paint (or draw)!
