Purpose
Responsible for leading and strengthen the vision of Human Resources Students’ Association (HRSA). The
President is a key role in creating impactful Human Resources related experiences, providing resources and
support, and engaging students in various developmental opportunities in the Beedie community. The
President will be highly motivated to create a positive impact as a leader to the executive team and HRSA
members.
Essential Responsibilities
- Determine the strategic direction of HRSA in the next
year and create action plans to implement annual
objectives
- Recruit, retain, and motivate executive team
members, organizing committees, and volunteers for
various events
- Delegate weekly deliverables for each member of the
team with communicated expectaions
- Chair weekly executive team meetings, prepare
agendas prior to each meeting, and assign deliverables
- Ensure smooth communication and coordination in
the planning process for all events and activities
- Ensure that the requirements of the Constitution and
the decisions of HRSA are carried out accordingly
- Communicate continuously with executive team and
maintaining up-to-date records on any documentation
- Liaise with BASS and other Beedie clubs, Student
Engagement Office, Beedie Career Management
Centre, and Simon Fraser Student Society
Qualifications & Skills
- Passion for providing the best support to students
interested in the association
- Proactive and motivated to accomplish goals and
objectives
- Strong understanding of HRSA’s vision, mission, and
strategic direction
- Previous experience in an executive role in a student
organization
- Previous experience in event planning and
fundraising for mid-sized events
- Ability to make executive decisions on the spot
- Ability to take authoritative action as needed
- Ability to develop and maintain effective working
relationships with students and professionals
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Excellent time management, organization, and
prioritization skills
- Dedicate a minimum of one semester after formal term
ends as an advisor to the new team
- The duties of the advisor will be limited to
providing support to the team and to provide an
experienced perspective on organizing and running the
association
- Provide/receive positive and negative feedback to/from
executive members once per semester in a formal manner
- Provide resources and support in the various executive
roles as needed
- Ensure accountability from each executive team member
and their responsibilities with an agreed consequential
action when expectations are not met
- Act as main point of contact with external parties and be a
signing officer as required
- Be an HRSA ambassador and promote HRSA in a
responsible and professional manner
- Ensure cooperation with the entire HRSA executive team
- Attend all HRSA meetings and activities

- Engagement in Beedie Community
- Involvement with BC HRMA as a volunteer or student
liaison
- Large network on industry professionals is a strong asset
- Familiarity with the HR field (at least BUS 381)
- Experience communicating with or networking with
professionals
