Origin and Breeding: ‘MINDUO1’ originated from an open pollinated cross conducted in July 2005 by Olivier Nazeyrollas
at Pépinières Minier in La Ménitré, Maine et Loire, France. The cross involved the variety ‘Minefest’, as the female parent,
and an unknown male parent. ‘MINDUO1’ was selected in July 2007 based on its compact plant growth habit, large
inflorescence, long flowering period, flower size and colour, and good garden performance. Asexual reproduction of
‘MINDUO1’ was first conducted in August 2007 using semi-hardwood cuttings.
Tests and Trials: The comparative trial of ‘MINDUO1’ was conducted as an outdoor container trial during the summer of
2014 at BioFlora Inc. in St. Thomas, Ontario. It included a total of 10 shrubs each of the candidate and reference variety. All
shrubs were grown from 5.7 cm liners and planted into 7.6 litre containers on June 5, 2013. The trial was arranged with
approximately 50 cm spacing between shrubs. Observations and measurements were taken from 10 shrubs or parts of shrubs
of the candidate and reference varieties on July 29th, 2014. All colour determinations were made using the 2007 Royal
Horticultural Society (RHS) Colour Chart.
