THE SHORT STAY VISA IS FOR A STAY OF 1 TO 90 DAYS.
a)
Completed application along with the necessary documents must be presented. The list of supporting documents is
not final. The French Embassy reserves the right to request any additional documentation, deemed necessary,
depending on your application (status, nationality, purpose of visit…etc.) In such a case, you will be contacted by a visa
officer.
The visa can be approved or denied by the relevant Ministry Department, the concerned authority of the country into
which you wish to enter, the Consular Authority attached to your destination and / or the Head of the Visa
Department.
b)
Applicants (no matter their nationality), residing in Anguilla, Antigua, Dominica, Grenada, St Kitts and Nevis, St Lucia,
St Vincent and the Grenadines and Montserrat, applying for a visa will be required to come in person for
fingerprinting and digital photograph to be taken. Kindly contact the French embassy via telephone, email or fax
to know how to proceed with your application.
NB: when residing in a country for more than 3 months you are a resident of that country.

Effective 1 July 2014, residents of Trinidad and Tobago will have to approach the Spain embassy in Trinidad
for their application for Schengen visa. The French Embassy in Castries, can issue visa to those residents for
only the following type of visas:

Long stay to France and its French overseas departments and territories
Short stay for the French overseas departments and Territories of France
d)
You are advised to schedule your appointment at least 2 months before your
planned date of travel especially if it is during the months of April to August and
December which are the busiest periods.
e)
For confidentiality reasons, and also for security measure, on the day of the appointment, only the applicant is allowed
in the room during the interview, except minors who must be accompanied by parent(s) or legal guardian(s).
f)
Please be informed that visas ARE NOT ISSUED on the same day of the interview or on the day that the
application is submitted or received.
g)
Submitting an application with all relevant supporting documents DOES NOT GUARANTEE the issuance of a visa
h)
Applicant must provide photocopies of all original documents, which he/she may want in return since photocopies
cannot be made at the French Embassy. If the applicant decides to submit the originals without photocopies, these
will NOT be given back once a decision has been taken on the said application.
i)
Applicants must provide along with their application their passport and a photocopy which must include the bio-page,
permit of stay/work, Schengen, US, Canadian, UK or any other non-Schengen visas obtained during the last 3 years).
j)
The Embassy will only accept documents which are in the French or English language, documents in any other
language must be translated.
k)
There is a processing period of 3 to 15 (working) days from the date of receipt of your application. Depending on the
case, the nationality and the type of visa being requested, the waiting period may be extended to a maximum of 30
calendar days, and in special cases, a maximum of 60 calendar days. Persons travelling to countries other than France
and/or its overseas department (countries represented by this Embassy) may also have to wait for the approval of the
Embassy of the visiting country.
l)
In addition to the list of requirements below, persons with passports (or travel document) of a nationality other than the
actual one in which they are residing or employed, must present either a valid work permit, CARICOM skills
certificate or resident stamp on the passport, which must be valid for a minimum of 3 months after the expiry date
of the visa being applied for.

m) Nationals and Residents of the countries stated below are within our consular jurisdiction. However, only those who
reside in those countries can submit their applications to this Embassy. Those who reside out of this jurisdiction
must apply to the competent consular representative of their place of residence,( e.g. bearers of St Lucian passport
who do not reside in the O.E.C.S.. member states cannot apply for visas in our Embassy) :

Visa applications made 3 months or more prior to the scheduled date of travel will not be processed

The Embassy only accepts Eastern Caribbean dollars (EC $) IN CASH as payment for application fees. No other
currency and other form of payment are accepted.
Applications fees are subject to change every two weeks or at the end of the month.
p)
Bank statements in the name of companies will not be accepted as evidence of financial means for applications for
personal trips i.e. for vacation and/or pleasure
q)
The short stay visa issued by the French Embassy in St. Lucia does not give anyone the right to work in the visiting
country. This also applies to persons who do not require short stay visas. If anyone wants to undertake employment in
the visiting country (Schengen States, French Department or Territories), please contact the Embassy before making
travel plans.
r)
In order to work or to attend a professional training in France for a short stay (or any of its dependencies) the
prospective employer must contact the “Direction Régionale des Entreprises, de la Concurrence de la
Consommation du Travail et de l’Emploi” ((DIRECCTE, former DDTEFP) for the respective application. The file will
then be forwarded to the «Office Français de l’Immigration et de l’Intégration » (OFII). Once approved, it will then
be sent to this Embassy for the issuance of the appropriate visa.

European passports holders do not require short stay visas.
t)
Holders of diplomatic, official and service passports need to contact the French Embassy to know whether or not a
visa is required to travel to the respective country.
u)
Persons who require airport transit visa need to contact the French Embassy likewise persons who need to enter into
the african countries represented by this Embassy
v)
Persons who do not reside in St. Lucia, will have to return home with their passport. An agent in the visa section will
contact you for the decision taken to your application. If the visa is approved, to get it issued, you will have to send
back your passport, via Express Mail FEDEX, DHL or LIAT QUIKPAK with a prepaid return or give their account
number with FEDEX or DHL. LIAT QUIKPAK only offers a freight collect service where you pay upon delivery of the
package.

w) Finland, Iceland, Latvia, Malta, Poland, Switzerland, are all Schengen States but are not represented by this Embassy. To obtain
information regarding visas to the said countries, contact the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in your country of residence or log
onto the internet.

APPLICANTS MUST BE IN POSSESSION OF THE FOLLOWING DOCUMENTS ON THE DAY OF THEIR APPOINTMENT:

1 recent coloured passport sized photograph (of less than 6 months): “the picture must be taken from the
front (full face) and not slightly on a side with relax or smiling face without showing your teeth. It must
also be bareheaded, dimension 3, 5 x 4, 5 cm and perfectly resembling. Ensure that eyes, ears and the
forehead are well exposed. The picture must also have a white background”

The non-refundable application fee (in EC$) in cash. (Please contact the Embassy for the exact amount since it
may vary depending on the date of your application. Applicants are advised to come with exact amount to avoid
delays.)

1 visa application form with all relevant questions answered, dully filled in capital letters, dated and signed.
Parents or legal guardians must sign applications for persons of 18 years and under. Application forms can be
obtained at the French Embassy in Saint Lucia, or at the French Consulate in each OECS Member State or
online at : www.ambafrance-lc.org – Please ensure that you have the right application form by checking at the
top on the left side for the following reference: “cerfa N° 14076*01” .

Applicants below the age of must be accompanied by parent (s) or legal guardian. The following document
must be included in the application file for all applicants below 18 years of age:
the child’s birth certificate (+ photocopy) as proof of parentage or legal document as proof of guardianship. In a
case where the biological parent(s) is/are deceased, a death certificate(s) (+ photocopy) must be presented.
Parent(s) or legal guardian must also present some form of identification (+ photocopy). If the child is travelling
with one parent and the name of both parents appear on the birth certificate, a consent form must be signed by
the other parent. If the child is travelling with someone other than the parents, a consent form must be signed by
both parents, and the same applies in the case of legal guardian(s). Children below the age of 18 travelling
without their parents must present parent(s) resources. The consent form can be obtained at :

A passport with at least TWO blank pages without any stamps or visa on these pages (meaning 1 leaf with
back and front =- 1 page) + photocopies of the bio-page of the passport along with all Schengen visas
issued during the past 3 years as well as the immigration entry stamps and all other valid visas must
also be provided. The passport must be valid throughout the applicant’s intended travel + a minimum of three
months from the date of travel (Validity of the visa + 3 months)

A detailed travel itinerary from airline company, travel agent, cruise agent, train ticket or ferry confirmation
(which relevant). This itinerary must clearly indicate the departure and return dates and times to and from your
country of residence. Your Itineraries could be an E-mail, fax or scanned copies), cities and ports of entry must

be clear, codes are not accepted. Your itineraries may include train reservation, EURORAIL ticket, car rental,
internal flight. Your name as it is indicated in your passport must appear on your itinerary. The validity, duration
of stay, and number of entries on your visa, will be based on your travel itinerary and the validity of your travel
insurance. Please do not purchase tickets until your visa has been approved. The
paid or confirmed ticket may be requested after approval of the visa. If you are downloading a travel itinerary on
line, simply print it before giving your bank card details for payment.

Evidence of financial, family and social ties to place of residence, these may include:
For individual employees: an employment letter or contract (on the employer’s letterhead, duly signed and
stamped) with employment details and salary, clearly stating that leave of absence has been granted (state the
period) and that the employee will return to the job.
For official visits: a diplomatic note from the relevant authority indicating the programme (type, location,
duration) of the official visit and the covering for the travel insurance
For business/professional (employee) : employer letterhead duly stamped and signed indicating your position,
salary, motif of your trip, your destination, duration of your trip and the coverage of your trip, if the company is
not well-known the proof of existence of the company,
For self-employed, your business licence and/or company registration with last contract(s) or certificate of
registration from your association (your name must appear on the document) or copy of your last tax return or
letter from the Chamber of Commerce, as well as a detailed print out of all transactions on your bank account for
the past 3 months.
If you are invited to attend: conferences/meetings/ seminars/ cultural, sporting or educational events/
exhibitions …etc: an official invitation (on host’s letterhead, duly signed and stamped), clearly stating the
responsibility of the inviting party such as accommodation, airline tickets, meals etc. or copy of a contract
between invitee and host.
In the case of a student, a letter from the school clearly stating the return date to school + detailed print out of
all transactions of parent(s) for the past 3 months
For private yacht crew members: working contract signed between the relevant parties, list of crew
members, registration of the vessel/boat, identification of owner of the vessel/boat, job letter, and a letter giving
the planned itinerary
For seamen to join a cruise ship: job letter or contract signed between the relevant parties
For private sailor/navigator : list of crew members, identification of owner of the vessel, registration document
of the vessel, letter stating the planned itinerary

Convincing evidence of financial solvency to ensure subsistence and return: a detailed print out of all
the transactions on your personal account for the past 3 months and credit /debit card and/or travellers
cheques (detailed print out must clearly show the applicant’s name as the account holder, the balances on the
accounts and the date of the statement)

Proof of accommodation: these may include:
(I) a hotel/guest house reservation or apartment rental, vacation home or confirmation of tour (applicant
must provide a paid reservation after approval of the visa in order for the visa to be issued)
THE HOTEL RESERVATION IS NOT REQUIRED WHEN APPLYING FOR A VISA. THE ADDRESS MUST BE
INDICATED ON THE APPLICATION FORM. THE CONFIRMED HOTEL RESERVATIN OR FINANCIAL
EQIVALENT OF 120 € MULTIPLY BY THE AMOUNT OF NIGHTS IS ACCEPTED BY THE IMMIGRATION
UPON YOUR ARRIVAL IN FRANCE. THE FINANCIAL RESSOURCES COULD BE IN CASH, TRAVELLERS
CHEQUES OR INTERNATIONAL CREDIT CARD. THESE ABOVE MENTIONED DOCUMENTS COULD BE
REQUIRED IF THE VISA IS APPROUVED BEFORE IT COULD BE ISSUED.
(II) or the original lodging certificate from the host residing in the country of destination (fax copy of
scanned lodging certificate is not accepted by the Immigration officer) :

a) Austria: it is called: “Verpflichtungserklärung” (electronic obligation declaration). Applicants must present
the original of the proof of accommodation from the host along with all their other documents in the visa

b) Belgium: it is called: “ENGAGEMENT DE PRISE EN CHARGE - Annexe 3 bis” or “VERBINTENIS TO
TENLASTENEMING - Bijlage 3 bis” issued by local city hall, (commune/gemeente) in the place of
residence of your host. Applicants must present the original of this document in the visa section on the day of

d) Denmark: is an INVITATION FORM FOR VISA APPLICATION or INVITATION FORM FOR BUSINESS
VISA APPLICATION. The host in Denmark can obtain this proof of accommodation at the Danish Immigration
Service. Applicants must provide the original of the invitation form on the day of their appointment in the visa
section. The proof of accommodation must be presented with a translation in French or English.
e) France and its Overseas Departments and Territories: it is called “attestation d’accueil” and can be
obtained at the “Mairie” (City Hall) where the host resides. You are to provide the host with a photocopy (in
some instances certified by the passport authorities of your country) of your passport, in particular the bio-page
and those with stamps. Applicants must present the original of the proof of accommodation in the visa section
on the day of his/her appointment.
f) Germany: -(for only nationals of St Lucia)- it is called “Verpflichtungserklärung” can be obtained at the
City Hall (“Stadtverwaltung/Bürgeramt”) or can be obtained at the Aliens Authority (“Auslnderbehörde”) in
Germany, at the place of residence of the host. The applicant must present the original of the proof of

Greece: Original invitation letter duly signed by the host, whose signature needs to be verified by a
Greek authority (police, Honorary Consulate, etc) and a copy of I.D. card or bio-page of the host’s
passport; resident permit; proof of residence (property title, deeds, rental agreements etc, proof of
income). Applicants entering into Greece with invitation letter cannot transit in another Schengen State
which does not acknowledge a simple invitation letter from a host. Applicants must present the original
of the proof of accommodation in the visa section on the day of his/her appointment. The proof of

Hungary: it is called: “Meghivólevél” can be obtained by the Immigration and Nationality Office at the

k) Luxembourg: it a Statement of Support called: -“DECLARATION DE RPRISE EN CHARGE” from the
host (family or friend). –The host person can obtain the Statement of Support -“Déclaration de Prise en
Charge”- at his/her municipality or Ministry of Foreign Affairs and will have it validated by the municipality

Health insurance: Letter from Health Insurance Company (on letterhead, duly signed and stamped) indicating
the coverage plan of the applicant, with special mention that the individual will be covered while travelling
internationally or throughout the Schengen States and/or the French Overseas Department) with a
minimum coverage of 30.000 Euros or US $ 50.000 (equivalent to 100.000 EC $). Must also state that it
covers emergency medical care, hospitalisation and repatriation. YOU DO NOT HAVE TO provide the
entire insurance policy and be reminded to also provide a photocopy. The validity/duration of your visa will also

In order for a visa agent to contact you on the status of your application, please ensure that your application form is
properly completed with you correct address, e-mail address and most importantly your contact number(s).
Applicants are asked to thoroughly read ALL visa requirements before applying for their visas in order to avoid unnecessary
delays in the processing of their application: if any document is missing, the applicant will have to re-schedule another
appointment.
Persons will not be allowed in the visa section without an appointment. Please call (758) 455-6075 to schedule an
appointment, at least 2 months before your intended travel. You could also book your appointment by sending an E-mail
( frenchconsulate@candw.lc ) or by fax (1758 – 455 60 86).
You are advised to schedule your appointment at least 2 months before your planned date
of travel especially if it is during the months of April to August and December which are
the busiest periods.
Call or send an e-mail to confirm the administrative fee the day before your appointment or before you
send your application. Remember: only EC$ IN CASH will be accepted.
