THE SHORT STAY VISA IS FOR A STAY OF 1 TO 90 DAYS. a) Completed application along with the necessary documents must be presented. The list of supporting documents is not final. The French Embassy reserves the right to request any additional documentation, deemed necessary, depending on your application (status, nationality, purpose of visit…etc.) In such a case, you will be contacted by a visa officer. The visa can be approved or denied by the relevant Ministry Department, the concerned authority of the country into which you wish to enter, the Consular Authority attached to your destination and / or the Head of the Visa Department. b) Applicants (no matter their nationality), residing in Anguilla, Antigua, Dominica, Grenada, St Kitts and Nevis, St Lucia, St Vincent and the Grenadines and Montserrat, applying for a visa will be required to come in person for fingerprinting and digital photograph to be taken. Kindly contact the French embassy via telephone, email or fax to know how to proceed with your application. NB: when residing in a country for more than 3 months you are a resident of that country. c) st Effective 1 July 2014, residents of Trinidad and Tobago will have to approach the Spain embassy in Trinidad for their application for Schengen visa. The French Embassy in Castries, can issue visa to those residents for only the following type of visas: - Long stay to France and its French overseas departments and territories Short stay for the French overseas departments and Territories of France d) You are advised to schedule your appointment at least 2 months before your planned date of travel especially if it is during the months of April to August and December which are the busiest periods. e) For confidentiality reasons, and also for security measure, on the day of the appointment, only the applicant is allowed in the room during the interview, except minors who must be accompanied by parent(s) or legal guardian(s). f) Please be informed that visas ARE NOT ISSUED on the same day of the interview or on the day that the application is submitted or received. g) Submitting an application with all relevant supporting documents DOES NOT GUARANTEE the issuance of a visa h) Applicant must provide photocopies of all original documents, which he/she may want in return since photocopies cannot be made at the French Embassy. If the applicant decides to submit the originals without photocopies, these will NOT be given back once a decision has been taken on the said application. i) Applicants must provide along with their application their passport and a photocopy which must include the bio-page, permit of stay/work, Schengen, US, Canadian, UK or any other non-Schengen visas obtained during the last 3 years). j) The Embassy will only accept documents which are in the French or English language, documents in any other language must be translated. k) There is a processing period of 3 to 15 (working) days from the date of receipt of your application. Depending on the case, the nationality and the type of visa being requested, the waiting period may be extended to a maximum of 30 calendar days, and in special cases, a maximum of 60 calendar days. Persons travelling to countries other than France and/or its overseas department (countries represented by this Embassy) may also have to wait for the approval of the Embassy of the visiting country. l) In addition to the list of requirements below, persons with passports (or travel document) of a nationality other than the actual one in which they are residing or employed, must present either a valid work permit, CARICOM skills certificate or resident stamp on the passport, which must be valid for a minimum of 3 months after the expiry date of the visa being applied for. 2 AMBASSADE DE FRANCE AUPRES DES ETATS DE L’OECS m) Nationals and Residents of the countries stated below are within our consular jurisdiction. However, only those who reside in those countries can submit their applications to this Embassy. No other currency and other form of payment are accepted. Applications fees are subject to change every two weeks or at the end of the month. p) Bank statements in the name of companies will not be accepted as evidence of financial means for applications for personal trips i.e. for vacation and/or pleasure q) The short stay visa issued by the French Embassy in St. Lucia does not give anyone the right to work in the visiting country. This also applies to persons who do not require short stay visas. If anyone wants to undertake employment in the visiting country (Schengen States, French Department or Territories), please contact the Embassy before making travel plans. r) In order to work or to attend a professional training in France for a short stay (or any of its dependencies) the prospective employer must contact the “Direction Régionale des Entreprises, de la Concurrence de la Consommation du Travail et de l’Emploi” ((DIRECCTE, former DDTEFP) for the respective application. The file will then be forwarded to the «Office Français de l’Immigration et de l’Intégration » (OFII). Once approved, it will then be sent to this Embassy for the issuance of the appropriate visa. s) European passports holders do not require short stay visas. t) Holders of diplomatic, official and service passports need to contact the French Embassy to know whether or not a visa is required to travel to the respective country. u) Persons who require airport transit visa need to contact the French Embassy likewise persons who need to enter into the african countries represented by this Embassy v) Persons who do not reside in St. Lucia, will have to return home with their passport. An agent in the visa section will contact you for the decision taken to your application. If the visa is approved, to get it issued, you will have to send back your passport, via Express Mail FEDEX, DHL or LIAT QUIKPAK with a prepaid return or give their account number with FEDEX or DHL. LIAT QUIKPAK only offers a freight collect service where you pay upon delivery of the package. If you are downloading a travel itinerary on line, simply print it before giving your bank card details for payment. 7 Evidence of financial, family and social ties to place of residence, these may include: For individual employees: an employment letter or contract (on the employer’s letterhead, duly signed and stamped) with employment details and salary, clearly stating that leave of absence has been granted (state the period) and that the employee will return to the job. For official visits: a diplomatic note from the relevant authority indicating the programme (type, location, duration) of the official visit and the covering for the travel insurance For business/professional (employee) : employer letterhead duly stamped and signed indicating your position, salary, motif of your trip, your destination, duration of your trip and the coverage of your trip, if the company is not well-known the proof of existence of the company, For self-employed, your business licence and/or company registration with last contract(s) or certificate of registration from your association (your name must appear on the document) or copy of your last tax return or letter from the Chamber of Commerce, as well as a detailed print out of all transactions on your bank account for the past 3 months. If you are invited to attend: conferences/meetings/ seminars/ cultural, sporting or educational events/ exhibitions …etc: an official invitation (on host’s letterhead, duly signed and stamped), clearly stating the responsibility of the inviting party such as accommodation, airline tickets, meals etc. or copy of a contract between invitee and host. In the case of a student, a letter from the school clearly stating the return date to school + detailed print out of all transactions of parent(s) for the past 3 months For private yacht crew members: working contract signed between the relevant parties, list of crew members, registration of the vessel/boat, identification of owner of the vessel/boat, job letter, and a letter giving the planned itinerary For seamen to join a cruise ship: job letter or contract signed between the relevant parties For private sailor/navigator : list of crew members, identification of owner of the vessel, registration document of the vessel, letter stating the planned itinerary 8 Convincing evidence of financial solvency to ensure subsistence and return: a detailed print out of all the transactions on your personal account for the past 3 months and credit /debit card and/or travellers cheques (detailed print out must clearly show the applicant’s name as the account holder, the balances on the accounts and the date of the statement) 9 Proof of accommodation: these may include: (I) a hotel/guest house reservation or apartment rental, vacation home or confirmation of tour (applicant must provide a paid reservation after approval of the visa in order for the visa to be issued) THE HOTEL RESERVATION IS NOT REQUIRED WHEN APPLYING FOR A VISA.
